Sometimes, living in this state is embarrassing. I wish Northern California would break off and form their own state. At least we have enough veterans to balance things out politically down here. As they say, California is the granola state... Full of nuts, organics, chunks and flakes.
Guess I'll keep my eyes out and my wallet open.

Do you think it's right that they take two more weeks of your hard earned money? You already work for four or five months every year just to pay your income tax (assuming you are reporting your income). The more they get their fingers in your profession the harder it will be to get them out and it will get easier for them to apply more pressure. Where does it stop?

It baffles me that people would want more fees, regulations and general interference from big brother. Yes, please, tax me into oblivion.

I do understand what you guys are saying. No one wants to pay money, they would rather have it in their pocket. I have a bit of a more liberal view. It costs money to do business. My discipline is in HVAC which is highly regulated and it costs money to stay up to code. I worked at a Casino and I had to pay 250.00 a year for a gaming license. I am currently part of a union and they take 49.00 a month in union dues. In many different fields there is a reoccurring cost to stay in that field.

I do NOT think this would curb any kind of theft. Rather than these pieces of garbage selling their materials to a yard, they would just find someone that would be willing to buy the material at a discount. It just wouldn't kill me to pay a few hundred dollars, and like it or not, most of the people here would do the same.

BS, I am not giving the goobermint any more money. All they do is take and spend.

That's the society we live in and the way our Country is set up. You don't have to like it. I'm sure you don't have a problem paying for a driver's license. I'd prefer they were free, but I'm not going to buy a bicycle over a few dollars. Just like you don't HAVE to get a driver's license, you wouldn't HAVE to buy a license to sell scrap. It's a choice.

You would have to pay for a license or give it to someone that has a license. I think if you implemented a permit requirement you would see more and more metal available for those that have permits. It's a common theme. Where a local area requires HVAC certification of proper removal of freon to take things like a fridge, there are more fridges available. If you are unable to scrap something, most people just pass it by.
