Probably worth something to a vintage collector...but you will have to do some research and Ebay would be the way to list. Is $40 too much? Would be nice if they boot up and he has some floppies to go with it. I would take a risk at 20-30 bucks for both.

2 floppy drives can sell for $25 on ebay no problem, same thing for the hard drive.

That's to much if your going to scrap them. I bet somebody will be glad to pay 40.00 for them.

Another case where the old vintage computers are worth more to a collector, than a scrapper. You can recover those, clean them up, and for some people who collect that type of thing they will pay good money for them. But you have to market to the right people.

Fortunately for you computer geeks tend to be reclusive, and make very decent salary. What this means for you is that they are willing to spend their disposable income on old vintage computer equipment. Try posting on cragislist for Silicon Valley. Or throw it on ebay in their vintage computing area. Another thing you might want to do is seek out those online forums that deal with vintage computer equipment.

Personally, I think it's sad whenever I see a chunk of computing history scrapped. Last year I purchased a memory module from a Cray 3 that never was sold, to keep it from entering the waste stream. There were only ever two made, and one never made it outside Cray. Someday it's going to be worth more than it's intrinsic gold value because someone is going to realize that we have scrapped all our vintage computer history.
