We have done this and got immediate results.
I have a former employee in a competing business (we're actually still friends) who uses handwritten signs with very poor results. The professionally printed ones I use produce immediately.

from the google results link : BanditProject.org - Help rid Philadelphia of these bandit signs
Do you have to have a permit to use them in your area? Down here you have to get a certified sticker from the city to use any kind of sign, even open house signs.

Picture didn't load, but since I use Chrome I right-clicked and selected "open image in new tab" and it loaded fine. Go figure.
still can't see it
Any tips for Shutterfly users?
Shutterfly doesn't seem to have an easy way to do it. I watched the video on how to do it from photobucket but I really didn't want to create a photobucket account to do this. Turns out I already had a photobucket account I had forgotten about!
Anyway, here is a pic. I considered doing a full color logo instead of this but that would have greatly increased the cost. Also would have reduced "readability" for people driving by. The website I ordered from said blue on white was the easiest to read and got the best results, so that is what I ordered.
Thanks Burly,
If you don't mind me asking, how many did you order and what was the cost?
I have a few places I can choose from but they all have different prices, etc.
I have been thinking of doing something like this for a long time. Just my company name, what I take "Scrap Metal, Junk, Electronics" and a phone number.
Here, you see bandit signs at populated intersections and on lots of street corners...is what where you generally place yours?
As far as I know no such permit exists. One community has objected, Farmington Hills called and said there is a fine for posting these signs within the city limits, basically giving me a warning and asking me not to post any more. 800-got-junk uses signs like this extensively.
I've ordered twice now, and the price was $3.00 each for 100 signs, printed one side blue on white approximate size is 24" by 36". Included was sign posts, but I post mine directly on telephone poles. Put the sign posts in my shred pile. :-)
Yes, I place them at busy intersections and in front of places like Home Depot.
