Trying to implement new laws to curb metal theft.

I don’t go to this specific yard in this video because of its location but the two yards that I do go to don’t do this.

What do you think and does your yard do something similar? I’m not so sure about taking pictures of stuff but I’m for requiring a license/permit (as long as it’s not outrageous $$$) to sell to the yards. I myself make a note of what I pick up off the curb if it could be considered stolen like A/C units.

The truly sad part of the story above (Link) is this Quote: "Hartwig says he's replacing his water spouts with a galvanized metal that has a similar copper look, but it's worth next to nothing."
If it looks like Copper, and morons are stealing them off a man's castle.. do you really think they are going to magnet test it before cutting it off? The poor dude may get them cut off again because stupid is as stupid does!

The yards I use have been taking license, auto info, finger prints and photos for at least 6 years that I know of. Since July 2012 they have a whole list of things that you now have to show proof of ownership before you can sell it and you also have to wait a week to get a check on these items. I don't know everything that's on the list but I have it in my truck.

The truly sad part of this story is it makes me miss VA Beach. I haven't been home in a decade.
