Okay, here we go. Took the first load of EDDM postcards to the post office today, where
they educated me on everything I did wrong. Wasn't too bad, I followed all the instructions
EXCEPT to insert a facing sheet into each bundle. Took me about half an hour to get compliant,
including time to run to the ACO next door to make copies.
Here's my breakdown on costs:
Printing of 5000 cards $375.00. (Yes, I get a REALLY good printing deal!)
Mailing of 5000 pieces @$0.16 each $800.00. (Yes, postage went up since they introduced the program.)
Total of $1175.00 expended.
Response rate on mailing pieces is considered GOOD at 2%, but let's say I get less than that.
Also, responses aren't always immediate. Sometimes people hang onto these things for a while
before they call.
Additionally, my average job is tough to define, but let's say it is $200.00 per job.
Expected revenue:
at 1/2% 25 responses x 200 = $5000 - $1175.00 = $3825.00.
at 1% 50 responses x 200 = $10,000 - $1175.00 = $8825.00.
at 1.5% 75 responses x 200 = $15,000 - $1175.00 = $13,825.00.
at 2% 100 reponses x 200 = $20,000 - $1175.00 = $18,825.00.
As they say, your results may vary.
I would be very disappointed at the 1/2% results, but that would still be enough return to continue the program.
I'll keep ya posted.
