    growing pains!

I guess I'm lucky to say but I'm having growing pains in my small business. We have recently reached the 10/mo in revenues as an owner operated gig. Its time to hire help.
Turns out I don't trust anybody to drive these big trucks and need help delegating tasks.
Cash can help too as it will be in high demand.
Has anyone else experienced these problems and what did you do to overcome them?

this may be hard to understand, its harder to scale back down than to scale up. its easy to make the jump saying your ready just to realize later you may have overloaded yourself. we hit a slow period a couple months back and I had to let Dustin go for a couple weeks. we are back to good now, but I had to have a heart to heart with him and he understood. so many times I think here it is, I can have one more of my dream team hired.

I agree we have to have dreams and also have the courage to act on them. my initial goal now is to have 3 trucks running all the time, we have the trucks and trailers but not the volume to pay for 6 employees. the 3 extra employees already are picked out in MY mind(of course I don't know that they would choose to do this full time) and have helped out on weekends and their days off , rough estimates but I will need about 20 cars a week every week instead of the 10 average we have been getting

we have diversified a little again, started doing cleanouts again and the next time we hit a slow period me and dustin are going to run the computer shops in our area and try to get some more fire extinguisher accounts

grow as slow as you can as fast as possible
expect the worst and hope for the best

That's all so true about scaling back being the hardest part. I'm the last person I'd wanna fire, but if it gets much worser, haha, byebye ; )

The other side of the coin on employees is those who work hard and are smart tend to turn into you competition. Best of luck and congrats on your success so far, Mike.

Soon after I started my first company over 25 years ago, a veteran businessman with whose company I was doing a lot of business asked me if I liked owning my own business. When I said I did, he said he had a question to ask and that the answer would determine what type of company I would have. He asked me if I was in intraprenuer or an entrepreneur. I said I did not know the difference. He explained that an intrapreneur works IN his business while an entrepreneur works ON his company. I have always been an entrepreneur. Sure, I sort phones, fix laptops, etc. But my goal is always to grow my company.
