the difference in labor cost: HD vs bladeserver HD

basically they are the same HD except server HDs are generally smaller in capacity only. T

server HDs weigh about 2.2 lbs ea. so they bring a little more $ in total weight.
but the board is generally smaller , avg about 17 per lb. The extra weight is made up from the tray and cover. these can be plastic. light iron or, cast alu.

to remove the board from a desk top drive usually is 5 to 8 screws (all the same size) and your done.

the extra cost in blade server HDs is, they are more labor intensive to separate the metal for maximum value. you have to remove the card guard 4 to 8 screws, then remove the tray, and remove the card, Usually all three sets of screws will be a different configuration and size.

Lastly you must separate the tray which is made of plastic and alu or 2 different weights of alu. or steel and alu. depends on how particular your yard is.

the gain from tearing down a blade server HD over whole scrap value is averring us about .22 ea or, .11 per lb.
