    I think you will be fine. I don't think there are strict about that stuff where you are , I haven't heard anything negative about burned copper in any of the Dakotas yet.

    Not that I would know this personally or anything but - with a little more heat, the "brittle" copper wire will melt and form a puddle of pure copper.
    the main problem with this is that when you start trying to sell "ingots" of any type of metal, you have to stamp and register them under a smelters license.
    For the non-precious metals, this can be a bit of a hassle, but the precious metals pay pretty good, course then they have to be refined, which is much more dangerous!

    here in South Africa, the yards will pay you shred/sub grade steel prices for insulated wire
    basically, you have to burn or strip the wire if you want to get paid the copper rate

    its illegal to burn wires but this is what happens
    even i do this -otherwise the thinner wires are impossible to strip & i will lose out-big time.

    does anyone know of a way to strip thin wires?

    the thicker wires are called cables & this is relatively easy to strip
