So i was talking to a newbie scrapper in my area,he was telling me that this yard was paying him more than any yard around so i got into the finner detais, today he got 240.00 a ton for tin/shread.The funny thing he sold a little over two tons,I sold some tin/shread today for 230.00 a ton i sold 8 plus tons,so right away i got pissed, how could this new commer get more than me when he was selling a lot less weight?I work with this yard a lot and with out going into the amount of material it is substantial, something did not smell right with me so i asked him to see his ticket, and just like i thought the yard out smarted him.with out insulting him i asked him if knew there are different ways used to measure a ton,he said what am i talking about a ton is a ton.Well i showed him on his ticket they weighed his material in a METRic Ton there is a M in front of the word ton.I showed him my ticket there was a N in front of the word ton The N stands for Net ton.the difffernce being a net ton is 2000 lbs a metric tone is 2240 lbs, that means they are getting about 11% more there way buying it under the Metric system,Check your tickets Don't let them out smart you.
