When I think of Franchise I think of Mcdonalds or perhaps 1800-Got-Junk or whatever they call themselves......I tend to agree with Scott that he may have helped someone in another state get started...(Which is not a Franchise)

Also it would be hard to franchise your biz to someone in another area like mine..........What works for you in Denver and Arizona probably would not work with us southern folk

I want you to read what you wrote, so you understand exactly how you sound, I'm going to comment so there is no doubt what I mean.

    First you stated:

"get my scrap from the streets" sounds derogatory in of itself. And to assume that people who do only make between $50-500 a week is also offensive. I know people who canvas with flyers and pick up on specific days who make far more.

But this is what qualifies the feeling that you are demeaning people of this level you have labelled them to be:

What you are saying is that anyone who doesn't start at level 3 or 4 and investing a substantial amount of money, is a failure in your opinion, after all it's "The only way I see it possible" as you state.\

Can you not see why reasonable people would take offense to what you have said? Just apologize and move on so we can discuss things of more value. Stop trying to defend something so easily fixed.

No, these words from your initial post "What we have is a flood of bad scrappers" is what has caused this rant. JMHO.

There are so many scrappers here on so many different levels, I don't think you see that with the wording of your original post.

Starting with the guy that works a full time job and makes some money on the side by picking and tearing down on the weekend, moving on to the guy that wants to better his scrapping to a higher level, but still be a street scrapper. I'll bet we even have people on here that don't care a lick about bringing in any scrap from other sources at all, but just want to properly recycle their own waste and maybe make a few dollars at it while saving it from the landfill. None of these guys are "wantrapeneurs" (your word), These are guys that have no desire to make a business out of it, but it helps them all in different ways. It does not make them a "bad scrapper" (your words again).

I can see some reason to your post, but those points are what has caused a stir.

And for the record, not as a moderator, but as a member, the mob is calling you out, not the other way around.

I could make enough money to live on by scrap and sell resale items full time. But i still keep my day job for insurance and my pension and annuity. The insurance through my work covers my family of 5 so its a pretty big benefit to walk away from by going scrapping full time, our annuity is $7 hour and pension $12 hour. My plan is to go full time as soon as i am eligible for retirement which is 56 years old.
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com
I AM ACTIVELY BUYING ESCRAP OF ALL TYPES. BOARDS, RAM, CPUS AND MUCH MORE

You are not sharing your franchise with the world? Isn't that counter productive? Isn't the entire point of being a franchiser to expose your business model to as many people as possible, like a McDonald's does?

I would have to be correct if I were trying to gain favor for a public stoning. Are you saying that you don't want to give information because you are afraid of the backlash? And if I made a martyr out of you, wouldn't that be a positive thing for you? After all, people love martyrs, that's the entire point of being one.

I don't understand yet again. I asked some very pointed and very easily answerable questions that you absolutely avoided answering and are now asking me to ask you in email. They are nothing that could possibly harm your business in any way, but instead promote it, I am not asking for anything proprietary, I am not asking for anything personal, but instead information that should be public domain or at least publically available to anyone whom was interested in buying into the franchise opportunity you claim to have established.

I am done asking, I think people will draw their own conclusions regardless of what you claim or I state, I am not trying to make people believe or not what you have stated, just attempting to engage you on a level that would add value to this forum, which you seem to be avoiding at all costs and which confuses me to no end.

Phffft, just what I have seen on the items you have sold on ebay, and here for that matter, and people I know that have done business with you I would assume you are making enough to live a very comfortable life. Don't be modest. You seem to do very well for yourself. Matter of fact, I think most of the people who belong to this forum happen to also be doing very well for themselves.

Its not a flood of bad scrappers. What we have right now is a horrible economy and really low scrap prices. So theres more people scrapping and less people buying new stuff. Therefore there are more people fighting over less scrap. Also metals being so low and gas going way up put us all in a bad mood. Crude oil went from 94 to 104 in the last week so the pumps are gonna get pricey pretty soon. So again the solution goes back to fixing unemployment which is not going to happen anytime soon and the dow at 15,000 with no fundamentals to support it. This is going to continue to get worse.

I am cutting cords and not buying any boards lesser than green motherboards right now. Fuel costs keep going up and metals keep going down will cause me to stop my curb runs and stop buying most escrap. I am in the process right now of specializing into RAM, gold price going down will help me in this endeavor. Either evolve with the changing conditions or get out.

I know how to franchise, how to go about doing it, I have investigated it to death. I also know which company and law firm I am going to use if ever I decide it's worth a try. I have no problem understanding exactly what franchising means, nor do I have any problems understanding the risks and benefits. I don't think YOU understand what it means, nor do I think you have franchised otherwise you would not be so coy.

What you are describing sounds more like a multi-level marketing scam, or Church of Scientology more than a franchise opportunity. Are you registered with your state as a franchise, yes or no?

Quote Originally Posted by Tcgs View Post

Would you please point out specifically what I am hating? I have not expressed any hate, I don't hate, I benchmark off people who are able to do things better than me, but you have said nothing that would lead me to believe I could benchmark off you, matter of fact I specifically asked you pointed questions that I was interested in which you avoided, ignored, attempted to reason away and then asked me to ask you in private email.

Without getting into a pissing contest with you, I think that most if not everyone on this site could do exactly what you have done without too much trouble, and most probably have done much more. But nobody will ever know until you honestly post what you have done. You realize this right? So long as you do not post what you have created, nobody can hate on you because frankly, we have no idea what to hate.

You have a choice, you can act like an adult, or continue acting in the way you have, the choice is yours. I'm over here standing with the real men, the adults, and waiving you over. What are you going to do next?

My only crime is that of curiosity, something you seem not to be able to forgive me for.

I don't think demeaning people adds any value to this forum, I don't like the way you talk about people, some of which according to your grouping of them I have a world of respect for, and who are also on this forum.

I don't like the claims you make as if we should blindly believe them, and then when asked pointed questions that could benefit everyone, you refuse to even entertain to answer yet spend hours posting things about people hating on you, when it would have served you far better to simply post information about your franchise you claim to have. It makes no sense, none at all, unless you were purely being combative for no reason at all but to be so.

And honestly, at the end of the day, I have done nothing to make you look good or bad, you have done all that yourself, all on your own. So don't blame me for people "hating" on you or "stoning" you on this thread, that has nothing to do with me. I don't play the blame game.

If you want to have an intelligent discussion about the franchise you claim to have started, I am eager to do so, but otherwise your responses have degraded into mud slinging, name calling, and outrageous accusations that just simply are not true. Grow up, this isn't the grade school playground, either post useful information or abandon the thread and write it off as a bad mistake.

It ends now, this has gone too far and is now entering the realm of utter uselessness!
