Its been almost a month now and prices are still super low for shred/cars. Anyone have any predictions or know when prices may go up?

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

I have been getting $175 a ton for months >> Boston Ma area
It had jumped to $200/ton but it went right back down to $190/ton
Anythings better than 140 lol its killin me
after this month we should see some movement i'm told, and ya your right i'm getting 140 at one yard and 150 at another. the mills up here stoped buying auto scrap couple months ago thats why the huge drop in price for us, or thats what i was told anyways
We dropped off 20/ ton this month !
Alvord iron and salvage
3rd generation scrapper and dam proud of it
We just dropped $10 a ton here. Currently sitting at $220 at my best yard per ton. Fall is coming, winter may be bad- depends on mill orders. Last winter we dropped as low as $140 a ton- basically a $100/ton drop from its spring/summer peaks.
Remember that 4th quarter mill orders will hit at the end of September, if demand is strong- prices will reflect it- if the mills cancel orders (as they did in 2012) Steel rate will once again go into the crapper!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!
As of last Friday white goods are $103 a ton here. That's at Sims metal in sparks nv
$130/ton here.
We are paying 200/ton for complete vehicles and $160/ton for not complete
Unreal. I hope for all of us we start seeing better prices soon.
I heard not going up until January
tell the buyers to pay better prices in southern Ontario lol, i just got back from the yard i prefer and they drop down to 130 today. and they're waiting on pricing sheets for everything else.
i don't understand it, its not like were 100km from the rail yards. i wonder how the mills in Hamilton are doing with prices this low. they must be laying off by now.
motors trans wheels rads etc....
We're only at 110 here on white goods. There is another yard that pays more but is twice the distance. I would hate to change yards, old boy has been good at me. I don't know if itd pay to double the driving for another 40 a ton, or whatever it is.
