    Be wary of Airgas Inc

I sent a load of refrigerants off to Airgas Refrigerants, Inc. back in August. Finally got a check from them last week. Should have recieved around 4k. Got a check for 392.00. Been calling my local rep and only getting his voicemail. No callback to date. With all the big reclaimers out there buying recovered refrigerants, it pays to ask for a list of satisfied customers. Next load will definitely go the a different reclaimer!

Ryan, was the second shipment to them. First shipment to them had a few irregualarities in the settlement check but they said they had straightened them out. I know, screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me.

    Joe,

How much refrigerant are you talking about? Sounds like a thousand pound tank or thereabouts?

Time to have the lawyer send them a letter? Sounds like fraud to me.

Ah, well that really stinks for you. I'm going to have to look into another company. There is a Reklaim store about 1 minute away from me that I've been talking to.

Jon, it was 9 tanks (125# and 250# pounders). Ran the settlement results past one of the other companies that I deal with and they said the check from them would have been around 4500.00.

Thanks. I don't see that posting links to companies would be a problem. You have no interest in it.

Freonjoe are you certified to do evac's? How hard is it to get into doing it?

The reason I ask is because I have been considering it, cost for equipment might not be an issue, later on for me.

Sorry to hear that, Joe. Seems like a long turnaround time? Is that the norm for this industry?

    *****UPDATE*******

Do to either the power of this board and/or the members on here, I received a call from Airgas addressing the issues raised in the first post of this post. I will keep the board informed on how this all turns out.

    Thanks everyone,
    Joe

Sorry, I forgot to post an update. I did get a revised settlement statement and a check. In the future if I deal with them again, I will make sure to post on how the transaction goes along with time frames. The original reason I dealt with them is because they picked up at my shop and left empty cylinders.

    Joe,

I drop off at a local shop that is an AirGas Reklaim location. Dropped 4 50 lb tanks last fall. Only 1 was full (R-22), 1 was partially full of R-22 and the other 2 had a few pounds of R-12 and R-134A. Got a check over the winter for $89 and change. Dropped a few pounds of R-502 yesterday and bought a 2nd tank so I don't have to make as many trips with partially filled tanks. Asked for a breakdown of last years check and will let you know when I get it.

Mthomasdev, one thing to watch out for is that most reclaimers won't pay on tanks that are less than 50% full. Also, they pay on a sliding scale depending on purity. To their credit though, their purity tests on the tanks that I sent in were within a quarter of a percent of my tests.
