The interesting things are; the differences in what laws will/ find will not allow in diff areas. In Il it is illegal to throw out any elec devices (including tvs) into the regular trash. So, this leaves people with few options. Take the tv and after research find somewhere(legal to drop it off). Find out if they have restrictions. Ie best buy only take screens up to 32" here. Lift and haul the tv yourself, or... Call someone who is insured and experienced to remove it for you and take it to a local e-steward for you.
It comes down to what is appropriate and what the local areas demographic and financial threshold will allow. Luckily, I can do this cheaper and live nea r the 3rd most populated area in the country. This obviously wouldn't work in other parts of the country.
