    Cold call approach?

How do y'all approach cold calls. I've sold something almost all of my life, but never really had to make cold calls. I've found some businesses that I'd like to call on but don't know how to start.

No offense, but I'd really like to hear what you've actually done that works, not theory of what you THINK will work. Thanks.

What works for me is I find out who is in charge of the ewaste, call them and set up an appointment, then meet them face to face. I feel over the phone is impersonal and that they don't know you from the next caller. Some people may have a lot of success with cold calling, but I haven't. 98% of my contracts are from face to face meetings.

usually what works for me is cash.........I work on a %...........Banks are paying **** for interest against your money so even if I make 15 to 20% on my money its better than sitting in a savings account drawing less than 1%

I agree with both answers above and will add a couple of things. Before I meet the individual face to face I will do as much research as possible about their business and about the individual. Scrapping farms and ranches makes it easy to know their business, but sometimes I approach other types of individuals. The more I know walking into the meeting, the better my answers to their questions. If it is a business, do not be afraid to visit the business prior to the cold call to visit with employees to gain information. Secondly I have an elevator message prepared. It includes what I do, why I do it, and how it will benefit them. The idea is that you can make your pitch in the brief time it takes an elevator to make it to their floor. If they are not ready to make a commitment during the face to face, I ask at that time if it is alright for me to contact them again in a week/month after they have time to think about it. The advantage of the last strategy is it makes them think about it more because they know I will be back. Hope it helps and good luck to you.
