Someone brought sacks of IDE hard drives in the yard and I don't know how much I should buy these from them. Anybody know the current price?

I'm not sure if they are aware of it but they sure disagreed to me when I told them I'd buy $7 each. Its about 6 sacks of it some of these hard drives looks new really and some are already opened where the shiny mirror like disk is already out.
If that price was $7 each drive, you should be glad they rejected the offer. If $7 per bag of them, it depends on how many were in each bag. For scrap only, not to resell, I usually try to pay 50 cents per drive. There are buyers in the buyer/seller section who list prices per pound. Check with some of them before buying.
Thanks Pnutfarmer.
I don't usually get this kind of scrap materials Mechanic688, its the metal, copper , alloys, plastic and papers that we usually buy and store in the yard.
I know it's sometimes overwhelming to try to figure out all the e-waste stuff, but Mechanic is right, you will do yourself a lot of good if you check out the old threads here. There are breakdowns on exactly what is in a hard drive so you can do your figuring by the separate metals that you're used to dealing with. Check out the old e-waste threads and use the search and you'll find a lot of info you can use. It's a lot of reading, but can save you from making a bad buy or missing a golden opportunity.
I think here they go as dirty aluminum, IF they'll even buy them at all above shred
IF you tear em down completely clean. Just load em in a bag and, at my yards anyway, I'm not certain they'd even give dirty al, but truthfully, I've never asked. Judging from things I've asked about in the past though, it would not surprise me if one yard imparticular would say shred
