anyone still clipping gold ends ?

I dont know about everybody elsec, but I just sold 6 pounds of gold connector ends at $1.00 a #. Prices have dropped . Now I sell all my insulated wire for $0.90 a #. I dont have to cut ends , the price is still the same no matter what . So I may stop clipping the ends . Has anyone stopped clipping the ends.?

I'm new, so I have never sold gold ends. But at $1#it really doesn't seem worth it, especially if you don't have a local buyer.

I've got a barrel full of ribbon cables waiting for me to get my big scissors out, but in light of this latest development, maybe I won't need to ; )

I'm not bothering, either. I just throw all the ribbons in a box. Got several boxes.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

If I have time I cut the ends off ribbon cables because I only get around $.35/lb. for those so it's triple the value. Any other wires that go as #2 I leave the ends on.

I use a bandsaw.. it quick and fast... and I've over 80lbs of ribbon cable ends, and about 125lbs of vga and so forth connectors, so yes it worth it in my eyes.

it's also not bad to recall times when you like more than scrap, and can clip the ends for ebay selling

yep use a old paper cutter and sharpen the blade and fill blue plastic 55gal barrels. when I get 4 or so i sell them and wire I only get 17cents for the ribbon cable local and since it not a lot of weight its fine I get better prices on other things so it makes it up.

I use them to pad my shipping weight. right now, the price i get for them after shipping as close to what I would get for them if they were left on the wire.

Do people buy for gold recovery or reuse? Iv been trying to sell a few items with no luck really, but iv got tons of wire with gold connectors. Maybe ill try putting some on.
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

there's a number of threads on it jord, they take the connectors apart and clip the gold ends. It takes awhile, but there's lots of tips on how they do it. Then they sell the ends on ebay for gold recovery

I've been finding it easier to pull it apart and keep the pins. I don't know what the pins are worth, but It has to end up being more than the end? I got a box filling up quickly of ribbon cable.

I clip the ends off of #2 insulated because my yard doesn't want them(go figure) I also cut the ends off of the ribbon cable because I only get .50# for the cable and 1.00# for the ends.
