but does anyone know of who buys a zinc/manganese mix? Price for this? Contact?
Thanks!

It's usually called die-cast. $.10-.15 per pound.
Is that what you get at a yard or selling to an end user? I just looked up die cast on Scrap Monster and its at $.55/pound.
Thanks
Prices vary but I think my yard is usually around .25# may also be called Pot Metal at some yards.

scrap monster doesnt buy so their prices are irrelevant..most places wont even take magnesium because it is very hard to melt and is very explosive
Bob, if you're still talking about the material you would recover from inside alkaline batteries, that would NOT be considered pot metal or die cast. I believe you all are referencing completely different animals here...

What would it be considered then?
ISRI Spec
UNSORTED ZINC DIE CAST SCRAP
Produced from automobile fragmentizers. Material
to contain about 55% zinc-bearing scrap. Other
nonferrous metals such as aluminum, stainless steel,
red metal, etc., to be about 40%. Insulated copper
wire about 1%. Trash, dirt, glass, rubber, oil, iron, not
to exceed 5%. Any variations to be sold by special
arrangement between buyer and seller.
I don't know honestly, but since it was never cast, or melted/fused together in any way it could not be classified as die cast. You're probably going to end up with quite a bit of potassium hydroxide in there too if they are old, or mishandled in anyway. That stuff will mess you up not just breathing it, but touching it at all... I think you are going to be challenged to find a buyer that makes this endeavor lucrative. But, I hope you find one!
