Just curious, for the ones who advertise on FB, how many groups do you post ads to? I'm posting ads in close to 300 different groups, most, over 200, of them are location based FB groups.

None, I had posted in several at one point but then I realized I am spending hours upon hours at the computer not actually making money. Your best bet is to go out there and toss your business card to anyone who will listen to your pitch. I've had more success on face to face encounters alone over everything else COMBINED.
I've handed out my business cards. I made a page on fb got a couple hits on it. Craigslist is my money maker.
how do you make an ad on facebook? or a page as some of you call it?
if it will help i'm all for it. but not going to sit at the computer all day either.
I've also tried the FB advertisement route. I haven't seen much good come of it.
The only marketing that I've done and have been successful at is Google Adwords. Unfortunately, doing this properly is a full time job (a lot, a lot of research).
I have had lots of positive responses through my facebook group ads. both for resale items and buying broken computers.
the upside is you hit lots of people.
the downside is thats its mostly 1 or 2 items per customer
currently post in about 15 groups. time is dramatically reduced if create a "album" that you can return to and bumb every so often. also save a master copy of your ad on your computer to copy and paste.
thats about the same for me too
I only do cars on FB, so I post my scrap ad, and ad's for tires, batteries and a few other parts.. I also post just parts in a few used parts pages (them honda guys buy up everything aftermarket within days, especially motors produced for japan and lowering parts)
Currently having a 1 business fb page..

My take on facebook/social media and how I use it; Other than my business facebook page I have no business presence on facebook. I feel that for my location and for what I do there is very little return from ads and traditional social media marketing on facebook. As an individual on the site I belong to many local groups centered around "rummage sales" "auto" "antiques" and similar activities. This gives me instant, regional specific information on current prices and what folks are looking for. It also identifies people who I can contact that may have access to scrap or salvage opportunities. By being a member of these groups it gives me a link to the person I contact. This is much more effective than an out of the blue contact. Its way better than a cold call. I keep it low key and friendly and sure as hell don't use any "hard selling". I just take advantage of the community. I live in a small rural area so this may not be effective everywhere.
Example: There is an active auto and parts guy on a local automotive facebook group who posts things for sale at least once a week. It is apparent he has access to a lot of parts and vehicles. These are some ways I would contact him over PM not on the message board.
"Congratulations on selling that Nova last week. In your travels if you come across any vehicles you cant sell or don't want to buy let me know. Im always looking for opportunity's even if its just scrap."
" Do you still have those two crown vic parts cars? If you do I would be interested in them for scrap if we can make the numbers work. Just let me know."
Then I would base my next message off of their response.
I have found that instagram is very good at building a reputation with other companies. I regularly interact with artists, wood workers, salvage and scrap folks. This is a good and free way to build up professional contacts in a low key fun manner. Instagram is how I came in contact with buyers for salvaged wood. Plus I just like looking at pictures of rusting metal and people towing vehicles.
I hope this makes sense I am writing it as fast a I can on my lunch break.
