    It's the required/preferred way to add weight to the car. Most race car classes have a minimum weight that they have to meet after the race is completed. In order to maximize the performance of the car, most chassis builders build everything under the minimum weight in order to be able to add the weight where they want it in order to maximize the performance of the car.
