what should I do cards or flyers?
Just my opinion, but I get angry when someone leaves a flyer on my windshield or on my door. I think a business card seems more professional, and when you meet someone and strike up a conversation about what you do then it is more appropriate to hand them a business card than a flyer. Eventually both would be a good idea, but leaving flyers on people's property is not always welcome.
I was think about the same thing. There are plenty of site that will print free business cards. You just have to get their repetitive e-mails for life.
i was thinking about like flyers for when im talking to someone and i say heres what i take
That makes sense, then both might be appropriate. Depending what you take you can just tell people I take anything metal, anything that plugs into the wall or runs on batteries. If you can only take items up to a certain size you can add those constraints. Also, you can always just hand them your card, and tell them if they have items they think you'll take to just give you a call and you'll be happy to help.
i think im gonna wait until i get a cell phone and start with family and friends
Both. Post flyers up in an area that will let you. I throw mine up in the post-office and one of my regular eWaste pickups has a corkboard. Local pizza place too.
Don't put a flyer under my wipers! I would not call you for that reason. I hate that!

Have both. Flyers are good for posting in public places, NOT on my Buick! Of course, business cards in my Buick are equally unappreciated.
Flyers can be real cheap. I own a LaserJet, and do my own printing. Toner is about $20 for 3000 pages worth, so they're very cheap.
Business cards can be pricier, but they're not too bad. One thing to think about might be a double-sided business card.
It's kind of the best of both worlds- small and professional, and more space to list what you take.
Just my $0.02
A good-looking business card will go a long, long way. Vistaprint is always having sales.
I use tabflyers.com. They have ph # tear offs. If you go that route, be sure to include contact information in the ad space as well, for when all the tabs are gone.
A lot of people are going to smart phones now, you could put a QR code on your flyer, linking to your facebook page. Google QR code generator.
Then start placing them wherever there's a community bulletin board or where people are waiting (if they allow advertisements). Grocery stores, tire shops, dr's offices, veterinarians, farm stores, restaurants, etc.
I have been using business cards for a year and haven't got much out of them, but then the design they have is more of a "handyman" look. I just ordered more from VP (mentioned above^^) and they have vastly expanded their selection of designs and they now include a few with the recycle arrows (what I really wanted) so I got 250 more, plus a vehicle magnet sign and lawn sign, all for less than $50 w/ shipping. The key to VP is to check ALL their current deals and apply the one that suits you best. They have a page on their website just for promo codes.

Hi, with regards to cards or flyers , maybe it depends upon the business you are promoting when its a formal one and needs something professional, calling cards will be better but if the target market are public consumers then flyers will be the best. In flyers, you can do a more detailed advertising. This will help the public consumers to easily understand the product or services you are selling. The key point here is to find a more relevant tool between the two to get the attention of the exact market for your business.
