    scrap prices

not trying to step on another thread but. The yard picked up the roll offs today. When I went to pick up the cash buster (yard owner) cam out and caught me. he said he picked up today because prices are dropping Monday and it may be across the board. Any one in the scrap business knows prices go down every winter but, I think with others that something else may be going on here going on here. Last week zink was .41 today it is .21 in Florida. Just sayin.

ahhh ok thanks for the heads up. you know when it happens one place it happens everywhere, so I'll gather up my goods tonight and get them ready to go in tomorrow morning. maybe hit up curbco for the first time in 6 months and see what shakes down one last time until spring. (then it's auction time all fall/winter)

I'm talking a few hundred pounds of steel, a little wire and some sheet alum in the morning. I'll post the prices I get. Fingers crossed.

I hauled in part of my steel pile this afternoon and price was only at 160 ton. I heard prices were going down next week as well and am taking the rest in tomorrow mainly to clean up the yard before winter sets in and I can't get at it until spring. Might take everything in at once(should be able to make 1 trip) so I can get my garage back again.

This was posted on other threads, but will be shared here as well. The international market demand is down. This forces our metals to be refined in our country. As this happens more metal moves to the middle of the country reducing the price on the coasts and flooding the market. Two major foundries in the Midwest are shut down for remodeling. Expect prices to be weak through the end of the year and then a big rebound at the early part of next year when the refineries are back on line. They will be hungry for metal. This is my gamble and as such I am preparing metal and sitting tight with hopes of hauling a lot of metal in January.
