What Pile would you put these things into?? Sorting questions

Ok so my question may seem a little complex but so far I have gone to the yard and separated my load in these different categories (listed below) and been paid accordingly.. but I have a few items that I have yet to come across that I am unsure what I would do with them exactly and have tossed them in with the mixed metal and I'm starting to realize that maybe thats not a good idea.. lol Microwaves ( do they buy them whole?) Computer Towers, Oscillating Fans, Speakers, Empty Propane Tanks... Also, whats the deal with Air Conditioners and Dehumidifiers ??? if it is illegal to make the refrigerant discharge do they buy them whole?

COPPER ( pipes, coolant lines etc.)

COPPER FIN (from Dehumidifer)

JUNK WIRE ( extension cords, TV cables etc.)

ALUMINUM ( parts from walkers, commodes, pipes, workout machine, pipes etc.)

BRASS( doorknobs and locksets, faucets, pipe fittings

BATTERIES

ELECTRIC MOTORS (Center part of a ceiling fan)



COMPRESSOR TANKS

MIXED METAL ( pretty much everything that a magnet sticks to ( they pay 10 cents per pound)

why are propane tanks a big no no ??? as long as they are empty they take them at my yard... Honestly.. they take just about anything at my yard..

Our yard requires that propane tanks are cut in half before they will accept them.....You should most certainly tear down the computer towers...Lots of good stuff inside those units that you would not want to get a tiny price for.

I tear down all of the above stated.

Microwaves- have an electric motor, some have a little bit of aluminum, but that's about all.

Oscillating Fans- I have only found these to have a small motor, plus the power cord.

Speakers- Mostly garbage (wood, plastic, insulation). There are a few I've found to have a good chunk of copper inside, but usually just magnets, thin wire and screws.

Propane tanks- My yard too requires them to be cut in half before they take them, the valve is sometimes brass.

All in all, most of the stuff generated from these things goes into mixed scrap, it's up to you if you want to tear them down and/or to what extent.

I've torn one microwave down so far, and it had a sizeable brick of copper in it. Worth tearing down in my opinion. Also had stainless exterior.

The last "Stainless steel" microwave I got wasn't,lol. It was such a low grade Stainless, that the yard called it regular steel,12cents per lb.
I do tear out what I can from Micrwaves, ie the fans, motors and wires.
Usually they don't make me a lot of money,lol.
