An afterthought .

AS life catches up with me it gets harder for me to gather the energy to post like i would like (ok ok stop cheering) so I am going to create a thread I will use to post short post regarding safety and new things learned, and things that flash across my memory. here is the first:

I dug a pallet of old HP servers I had in the back of the barn for a couple of years. they were full of straw and other nesting material, While tearing them down I came across the biggest black Widow and the biggest Brown Widow I have ever seen. the body of each was a big as my thumb nail.

THESE GENERALLY WONT KILL YOU BUT THE WILL PUT A HURT ON YOU. BE WATCHFUL FOR SUCH THINGS.

According to my wife every spider is a black widow.

Side note..those of you out in the SW keep in mind spiders, but also Scorpions. Those little buggers just love to hide in a shoe or anywhere that is dark.

Hey we have all that here in Florida as well. In SW FL, there are wolf spiders the size of your hand. Widows and recluse are everywhere in the state. Here in the north central area we have lots of scorpions. Fortunately they are small, about 2-3 inches, but the little buggers keep popping out of everywhere. Then there are the snakes, rattlers here and coral snakes in the SW FL and the gators...

I tell you, nature in Florida is a mean ugly thing. Not like up north where all you have is the occasional teddy bear. Down here the bugs will drag you off into the woods...

some one brought tools at Harbor freight today and this brought this story to mind not sure of how much of it is truth but some is I know.

Home depot was the brain child of a Wife Handy woman, Her husband got involved once it became a reality and almost killed it with too rapid of an expansion, eventually the two got a Divorce, In the Divorce the Husband some how got the lions share of Home depot. The Wife did not take this lightly and decoded to start another chain and called it Lowe's .

Her strategy was to make the store more friendly with softer colors, Better product. and her goal was to build one close to every HD on the planet.

In my estimation she has accomplished the task well. The prices are generally a little higher but the quality is also. there are still some good finds in HD but over all Lowe's has them beat. that of course is just my take.

Great story Old Dude, but unfortunately it is not true. The Home Depot was started by three executives from another home improvement chain (name escapes me, I believe it was a chain out west) that quit their jobs to start the new company. They had a better idea, and indeed HD was a better company until the last of the original three sold off his shares after the other two passed. That change came about roughly 8-10 years ago and some of you who frequent the HD may remember a time when they all of a sudden turned evil. That's what happens when a company gets taken over by bean counters.

As for Lowe's, it grew out of a smaller home improvement store, again I don't remember the name. I cannot say for sure, but I doubt its origins had anything to do with the original HD three, as that was not the store it grew out of...

Still, I enjoyed your story and I do share your preference for Lowes. Of course, they have been going downhill (less inventory and worse service) in the past 6 or 7 years too...

That's a great idea. There is a house hoarders and everything they put out has black widows on it or in it. Even had black widow get in my truck one time after picking up there. Loads from this house go straight to the scrap yard...

Don't doubt this story one bit. A lot of info is on the net but ya gotta sort through the BS.

Hobo those picks give me the Willys , those brown recluse spiders love stone for some reason . I remember smashing many a few back when I did stone work . The masons used to joke that one day you were going to see a helper collapse over by the stone pallets . Have to keep you eyes peeled for them In my area as well . More poisoned spiders than snakes in my area but it's close 3-2 .
