Take a moment to think about how you do business. There are usually both strengths and weaknesses to any business. While focusing on your strengths seems quite important, don't let your weaknesses hold you back. In fact, it may be more important to address the weaknesses, than it is to continually try to show your strengths.
Focusing on your strengths can improve your business. However, weaknesses left unchecked can finish your business. It seems that businesses want there strengths to carry them, when really eliminating/concealing weaknesses can have just as great of an impact.
For me, I feel a strength is my network. Buyers, sellers, informants, contacts, donors, friends, family, local businesses, this forum, etc. I have more than I can do, all the time. If my phone rings a # but no name, leave a message and I will decide to follow up or not. If a name appears, we will both be benefiting, in one way or another, when the transaction is complete, because we have been down this road before together. I don't do short time one-sided business. I do long term business, benefiting everyone involved, over and over and over again.
As for weakness, I sure have timed the various markets wrong regularly. I will think i'm sitting on a good pay day. If, I hold a little longer it will be a great payday. Nope. Price drop. I will wait for the rebound. No really, it's going to turn around....it can't go lower....
And the reverse as well. I got to sell this now! Then the price rises and rises and I quit watching because I have no more. UGHH
I definitely have other strengths and weaknesses as well. I just wanted to open this up to self-examine ourselves, so hopefully, we can all do better together.
