i was just wandering what is the price for dirty cast aluminum going for in your guys state / city ? ? Whats do you guys consider to be dirty cast aluminum ? need examples please..

Dirty cast Ali is anything cast that's got other metal or plastic stuck to it.
Mostly its a broken off stud that cannot be removed or some other unremovable metal part that makes it, 'Dirty Cast Ali'.
For instance I sold a sack of it a while back, in it was frypans with the elements still in the base, or any part of the element. Ali deckchairs that I could not be bothered with taking out all the Steel pins.

Bits of a Cast Ali lawnmower with the hingepin still in it.
Some Cast Ali car parts that had the odd bolt or stud still in it.
A hard drive chassis with a broken screw in it.
CRT degausser cable that turned out to be Ali wire, with the plastic still on it, not worth my time to remove it.

One thing I got stuck with years ago, I thought I had cleaned down all my Ali domestic real good so there would be no contamination at all.
As I left I looked at the docket to see I got 'contaminated Ali price for a sack of metal.
Later I realised/found out that it was a fridge Ali sheet, the internal sheet that does the cooling.
Where the Ali tube is welded onto it, there's a tiny thin Steel tube inside it where the weld is.
He knew that because it had not been cut out, the steel tube was still in there, hence 'contaminated Ali' price...
I knew there is a thin Copper tube around there and had got that out, but not the steel tube.

Also, double check your Cast Ali lawnmower chassis metal price.
One place gives me more $, about 33% more per Kg "because its got extra Copper in the Ali" (I think that's it) and they resell the Lawnmower Ali back to the foundry that casts these lawnmowers.
That way, the foundry knows what's in the Ali already and does not have to change the composition of the metal much.
The other place I sold them to gave me only 'Cast Ali' price and did not know that they can get better $ by selling direct to the foundry. I was expecting $2/kg, got $1.40/kg.

The yards I deal with in British Colombia give you a 2 percent leeway and will not dock you for a few broken studs left in a cylinder head or the little steel inserts used on some aluminum stud holes.

Aluminum engine blocks with steel cylinder inserts cast into the block exceed the 2 percent grace.



Small bits of plastic will not degrade my load as the plastic during the smelting operation used to pig scrap aluminum will not alloy with aluminum but rather burns off.

Over the years have found that the smaller yards all expected the scale man to cheat on weight and grade essentially stealing enough from the gullible to pay his own wages for the day giving the yard owner a larger profit margin.

The small yards could never make quota to sell to foundry's and steel mills.

When I sold to the steel mill in Edmonton needed 20 ton loads on the scale and you just cant meet those requirements with a one or three ton truck.

Whenever I had a big job with lots of iron would have my scrap cut and prepared then rent a semi. Pick the truck up at 5:00 pm and be loading during the night and deliver during the day having the truck back late afternoon if I only had one load otherwise back to the job site to reload catch a nap the following night being on the road before first light first on the scale at the mill yard.

In Clarksville Tn. extruded aluminum is 20 cents a pound and all other types are 10 cents a pound.

guys and gals ISRA has grading standards they set industry wide. Most all our scrap yards if selling on contracts follow these guidelines. keeps the buyer and seller honest and provides yes the ability to make prior arrangements or adjustments to pier to pier transactions.

i always enjoyed looking at the irsa book, i wouldn't bust my buyers balls about it if i had a few pounds, but when we each get up to gaylord selling it's nice to see how the bigger more trust worthy businesses do this.

You ever think about finding out what your buyer is making and helping them make more. Most people if you help them refine their process and we all do what is right, they will pay you more. If not and you really bring good data to their table..... may be time to leave.

i found staying with buyers i shoved tons of business too gave me the ability to ask for more. We all must keep our buyers honest and call them out if we know something is fishy. Remember our process must be tight. i never felt comfortable calling out someone when my ship had little leaks.

Praise God, that's you all by the way. We're the living christ. We can create and end life. i destroy many appliances lives etc. Our money and the good feelig from working for your self creates life too. In us and your family and friends.

alloy2 the 20 ton load sounds like a buyer selling to prime or some broker. They will take half copper or half wire and Al rims plus cast.

The more you sell the more you can hold to sub grading.

The al blocks if you sold trailers they would offer you to box up your al blocks with sleeves separate from your al blocks with out steel sleeves. They would also have killer prices on whole engines. whole al engines we get paid less but on assy they pay more. With intake, harness, and other stuff, I assume that's to a sherd operation that can process these al blocks fast and efficient.

what we must do is make a coop. A large warehouse to store all our stuff and mix mine and yours and others by box and grade to fill these trailers and then when I get paid I'd pay out the difference between less than truck load and more.

less a set fee for my warehouse cost n the money im paying you.

What stops all of us from sitting on 40,000 loads 0, we need the money each day. so if I paid you for your load and added it to mine an and others boom u make more and so do I

flip side is I could get the capital and just buy your stuff each day like any other yard and pay u as u drop. but then what separates me from any other buyers.. my grading, my personality, and my scale women.

yes I'm going to hire the hottest women who enjoy work and can handle us scrappers! Our ladies need work too, I'm a respected business man who tells it like it is. imagine a hot chick grading your cats and copper. One who knows her **** and works on commission ad far as volume. Plus pays you cash from her bra when it's check out.

I'm a past opiate addict and i know many woman who have been im powered by realising how they look can make them money. I'd like to embrace this truth and give them a legal fun means of communication with scrap men as a business buyer! much better than the traditional methods....... The awaking that a woman goes through under these situations must be respected. you go from strength and power using a spiritual gift given by god to get what you needed in a tough time, it's hard to go back to welfare or min wage job after.

Remember im calling on my stars. women who hae been tossed aside because of this opiate disease. God prepped them to be able to handle the rigors of that job, just to survive on the streets.

feels like home. I've ran lots of stuff and I fall a lot, each time God picked me up, and now I realise he was training me to be him. A creator. We all are. let's create new life, new USA.

I imagine a USA with our scrap staying here and sent to original manufacturer like thread mentioned and not shipped to China.

For national security we must keep our metals all in the states.

We create new jobs new smelters now new foundries and eventually new products. All American made and local by smaller micro forge or micro smelter fabs.

We're a family of do it yourself men and women, many of you i know work with your son's and daughters and we're the last of the hands on, get her done mentality.

We have tools and equipment and technology like duct tape no one else has.

It's okay to work on the side while you on some assistance and eventually get taxes and this stuff done. We need to start somewhere and iv got a goal to do what I did with credit or lending and bank account. With out it I could not show all cost of fuel and food and cloths and oil or parts or paying a jumper to work with me. After learning about accounting I'd have gotten so many tax credits a an built credit I'd have cash from a bank to start my business.

Plus I would have on paper my sales and data and could afford marketing etc.

They may sell you a semi load at that price as you are picking it up from them and paying cash could help.
