Texas e-waste recycling programs

A woman gave me this yesterday. A pamphlet for e-waste recycling in Texas. I'm not sure if it's limited to Texas, but thought I'd post about it.

Goodwill has partnership with Dell, and will accept old computers at most locations. Also non-working TV's.

Best Buy recycles most electronics for free.

Now I'm not certain if these pertain to gutted TV's with only the tubes left in them, but might be worth a shot.

rca, thank you so much for posting this...I've been holding onto tv and monitor tubes for months....so many put them back in the dumpster, but I knew someone would come up with a e-recycling center before long. Thanks again

It's good to find out if those recyclers are "ethical." There are many companies in the U.S. and Europe that illegally dump electronics in China and other parts of Asia. Just make sure you know where it's going, if that's important to you.

Illegally, or unethically? I don't think it is illegal to send computer scrap to another country, although I agree that it is very unethical considering they make women and children stand around a fire cooking toxic concoctions of boiling acid and circuit boards. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Just a note on Best Buy, they don't recycle it for free. Not free as in free, but you pay them 10 dollars, and receive an in store gift card for 10 dollars when recycling old products. If you're buying a new PC or replacement for what you're bring in they will take your old one for free.

So it's not free, because now you're stuck with a @#$# gift card to for 10 bucks that won't even buy you a clearance wii game.
