Buying broke down appliances - Page 2

just a thought. In my area we have 3 or 4 consignment shops. I am not sure how they work. I may be using them in the future. Right now I'm trying to get set up. (My son was laid off and I tried to get him to do this, bought a 1 ton Chevy, fixed it up, - rusty old box off, used box on. Brakes fuel lines tune up and then he goes back to work.)
BUT that's my disfunctional family story for the week.
anyways maybe if the stuff works you can try consignment shops.

Never buy appliances...if anything charge to pick them up. Trust me, might not think people will, but they do, do it.

Yeah some people might but scrap metal has freaking blown up in popularity. Everyone now knows its worth something, just turn on the evening news and see the stories of people stealing scrap from empty houses.

Plus most places that sell the appliances offer very cheap delivery and hook up and also free haul off.

I recently had a plumping shop call me from the craiglist add. They offered me 8 water heaters at $5 a pop. I bought um and cashed them in for $127. Cut off all the brass valves which got me 3lbs.

Didnt know you were still around catfish bob, anyway I agree scraping is gettin very popular here. So I can understand your decision to pay for appliances, I mean people will pay for copper wire, strip it and re sell it, how is that different than buyin an appliance stripping it down and selling it?

Curious what yard you use catfish, I assume ISA?

Yeah I use ISA 99% of the time. When the line its too far backed up or I'm being too lazy to take the compressors off the fridges I'll go down the street to the freaking mud pit/better pray ya don't get a nail or screw in your tire yard. The only thing I really like more about them is that they are family owned and not greedy corporate basturds like ISA.

the other yard down near the ISA on campground road? I have never went down there...I have used grade A junk yard near the ISA on grade lane, they dont pay nearly as much, but last time I was there they accepted chain link fence, ISA dont.
