There's a better option out there

Just dropped at a new yard today, what an eye opener. Insulated wire i was being paid .75/lb for was instead 1.80. copper i thought was #1 was appartently something even better. the same copper that my last visit to the aforementioned scrap yard yielded me 3.00/lb for #2, instead got me 3.60/lb as bright. Point here being, Know what you have, don't trust others to know your business for you. BTW Mid-city Steele is the rip off artist i'm refering to. For an honest and friendlier option head a few miles down the road to A&E metals!!

Very true. I second that post. Checking a new yard can really be rewarding to the bottom line. I went to the same yard for 2 years before trying a different one last fall, and what an amazing surprise. I wasn't getting rooked as bad as Jeffmess16, but I earned more in each category. Not only that, the yard was very clean, the parking lot was clean, and two guys met me at my van with a cart and wheeled my sorted bins and buckets in for me. I couldn't believe it. They also paid by check, but had a check cashing window right there so I could leave with cash.

It pays to check around, especially when hauling in the better loads.

Make sure they are actually paying you that amount. Some of these yards say they pay XYZ and then rip you off on the actual weight.
