Hand in to him and wait for further instruction from the gentleman.

Oh you want to strip wire... Best to figure out if you make more selling it as is verses selling online!

Well the thing is im not going to places to sell it... im only scrapping old pc parts for now from my It company..... therefor ill only have a bit that i can ship to online companys e.t.c

I sell all of my wire as is for .63 a pound locally.
You mentioned stripping wire yourself in old threads you've posted. So guess I'm wondering what other info you're looking for?

i just got a bunch more wires... i have Thick Desktop Power Cables, as well as some smaller ones from cars.... i guess i just have to s trip it with wire cutters and do it by hand... also does anyone know of a good value site online i can ship metal to who will accept 1 LB or small ammounts of metal? i know a good site but i kind of need about 40 LB to make it worth it.... im 18, and im doing this as a small hobby along working part time for my dads IT Tech company.... i want to make extra cash on the side and was hoping to do this as a hobby and make small cash... im not looking to ship off 50 60 LB im looking to ship out 5 or less

Also, is there any h armful fumes that can come off stripping wires, Pulling Metal pieces off circut boards, breaking circut boards e.t.c?

Once you break the “seal” on the insulated wire, you do release a little dust and gas that was incrusted during the insulated wire process, I would not worry about it too much, but you may need to disclose this information selling on Ebay or online!Originally Posted by LamoidTheScrapper

how do i tell between sealed and non sealed wire? ive been ripping the copper (or what ever it is) out from it and tossing it into a little bin.... it was all cut already just from being old...... once i cut it it was hard to pull it out but thats it it didnt have any Seals that were tight arround it.... can you give me a picture vs picture or something?

My opinion and what I consider value added regarding wire stripping:
I have a small wire stripper that works pretty good and only strip 14 ga. Or larger solid, and 12 ga. Or larger stranded. Everything else gets sold as is. It is not worth my time to strip smaller stuff.
You should be able to locate a Scrap yard near you that accepts insulated wire vs. shipping it off. Separate your wire into communications wire (least value), and single strand wire(next best). You can strip cords to single strand which increases the value.
Visit a scrap yard and ask them how they grade is the best thing. Here or other social media gives plenty insight. A block of wood with drilled holes and a drywall screw is cheap and easy to make. Trial and error regarding screw depth into wire jacket. Too deep and the wire shreds, and too shallow makes it difficult to separate.
The copper recovery rate, by weight, of the wire determines the value and therefore the payout.

Go to the buyers and sellers part of the forum. There are people who buy copper there. You're gonna have a tough time covering the postage cost when sending out 5lbs or less of common materials.

another problem is i suck at sorting the stuff.... i have a small bin of stuff from wires e.t.c i believe its all copper but one looks red like red copper so i ha ve no idea.... if anyone is willing to just pay a small bit for it and take all of it then id do that... i dont need hundreds of dollars... im looking to spend a small bit of time, and i make 5-10 dollars

For the life of me I cannot decide if you are serious or not. Why bother scrapping anything if you are going to give it all back to the post office?
Scrap yards may looks scary but they really are not. If you work for an IT company, it should not take you too long to save up 50 or 60 pounds of good boards to ship via Fedex.

If you are for real young man, you have an opportunity to make $. Few have your resources, and yet you seem like you are tripping over dollars to make pennies. There are numerous ways to repurpose/recycle/scrap your bounty. Read here, learn,put forth the effort and you will reap the rewards. Nobody will do it for you.
I said enough. I have scrapping to do now and the Bills are playing soon.

at the It tech company we fix commercial computers.... that does not mean i get tons of free pcs daily or weekly... infact i get maybe one every 2 months as otherwise it would be thrown out from being slow or overheated.... even if i wanted to do it i have no where to store this stuff and i cant really leave it outside since i have a huge yard not a small fenced in paved yard....

as I said in my other reply to someone else... I don't receive tons of free pcs and parts to scrap... I get maybe one pc every other month if I'm lucky because its slow old and useless

i put all my wire in a 32 gallon trash can that sits near, but not in the regular trash. no one else but me knows its in there, not even my parents half the time as they can never seem to get the wire in the can. and its even got a lid on the can. once you start filling the can you find more and more ways to get the wire you need. and as others have stated spending the time to strip anything smaller than 14 ga. really does take more time than its worth. take it in as is and let the granulators do what they do. those machines can do in a second what will take you an hour by hand.
