Stupid question, did you check the device manager and make sure that all is good and installed?
Calling crapcast when you own the hardware, I am surprised they offered any support at all.
Just because it's a "pick-up" laptop, doesn't mean its bad, I have not bought any computer equipment in over 7 years and I'm working on a 4th gen I7 for a desktop and a 4th gen I5 for a laptop.
