How many computers could I realistically fit in a 26' box truck?
More than you could legally haul down the road without having a CDL? Measure a few computers. Get an average. Then measure the truck and do the math.
How tall and wide is the truck? What is the interior design?what is the gvwr?
I could tell you exactly how many fit in a tacoma 5 ft bed back and front seat!
- Inside dimensions: 26'5" x 7'8" x 8'3" (LxWxH)
- Mom's Attic: 3' x 7'8" x 3' 1" (LxWxH
- Volume: 1,611 cu. ft.
- Floor space: 208 sq. ft.
- Max load: 9,010 lbs.
- Gross vehicle weight: 22,000 lbs. max.
- Empty weight: 12,600 lbs.
- Towing capacity: Up to 7,500 lb
That is a UHaul truck
Daily rate is cheep BUT watch that millage charge >> It adds up FAST
If you stack 50 computers per pallet and shrink them. At an average weight of 20 pounds per pc. You could fit 12 pallets on the truck for a weight of ruffly 12000 pounds. My box truck is 26k GVWR though so with your weights you might want to stick to 8 or 9 pallets?
I want to know the weight capacity of mom's Attic?
Depends on the floor layout too. Some of them uhauls have a wheel well or small riser that changes the number of possible pallets
Sledge says: I wish I had this problem!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!
I would be stacking them by hand. No Forklifts on site and if I don't use pallets I could save weight. So I could roughly get 400 computers on a truck give or take?
Let us know.
Better than the dump!
I'm interested in how many computers you actually have. I'm also concerned about the dimensions you gave for your moms attic. Are you planning on storing them in the attic? Have you considered everything that could possibly crawl out of the computers into your moms house?
If there is enough computers, I would rent a semi. Or you could make multiple trips. Or you could also rent a storage unit close to the place to get them into your possession quick and make a decision what to do with them later.
