    "capacitors". Found 11 results.

No idea if they're worth breaking down. I toss them in with the tin scrap.

sry guess I gotta spell it right to get results

It seem to me if they hold a charge there must be something in there to hold that charge, but Im afraid to break one open till I find out what else is in it.

Are you talking about the round ones, the ones they call disc capacitors ?

A lot of them used to have copper legs on them, you might check them with a magnet.
If you want to read up about them, here you go

Those are transformers on the pole, but they step down voltage to a usable level to feed the house. Very similar to a transformer that we rip out of electronics, just a monster version. I would love getting my hands on some of those to break down.

I think they are sent to a company that basically guts them out, repaints the case and puts new innards inside.

There is a very large breaker on the side that hopefully blows before that happens. It can be seen dangling when blown and can easily be reset from the ground via a nice set of lay up sticks.

Yea...I have see the huge switch at the power plants where I use to work at...its a shock at how much power is there when they go to flip them up into place....the power DANCES all over the place.

Another thing if you can get close to high power lines...you will hear a humming sound..something else that is kinda odd but...you CAN hear power in the power lines....just my 2cents.
