Ni I am buying them at 45cents a pound
Lithium (dont have my buy sheet with me right this sec) but I think its like 80 to 1.10 a pound.
Alkaline batteries are hard...I had a buyer who was paying $0.25 but they only buy every now an then...
I dont have a buyer for any batteries..except mixed scrap price; 10 cents a lb ...lol.
alkaline go in with my steel as well. I am saving the others, not sure why?
I don't know about you but I go out and meet with businesses to secure their "left overs". People are not going to just beg you to take it.but I will take anything I can get. I also am interested in all other metals for recycling. I'm trying to get my hands on as much as possible.
No you're not. No one is going to tell you where piles and piles of batteries are sitting around. Most of us just get them when we can by WORKING! There's been a lot of you guys lately looking for the easy buck b/c you read something stupid on the internet by some Nigerian telling you he's a millionaire by "letting other people do the work for you!" It's always funny to see who'd be running around like a chicken with their head cut off if the world REALLY tanked.

Sounds like he wants to go from zero to big player. Doesn't work that way. Start small and work your way up to the big ranks.
lol, oh yeah thats right if i get off my butt and do some WORK! i might find some batteries!
hey guys im really interested in money and im looking to get as much as possible, do you know where i could get a whole bunch of it?
Kris Kringle, get ready to become a millionaire!
Whew...tough crowd tonight...; )
It's just their "time of the month" for some of the guys,,,LOL
kinda feels like that! It's just their "time of the month" for some of the guys,,,LOL
i reckon though in the last month or 2 it has gone a bit crazy on here, when i first found this forum i read as much of the info first, then did a run to the yard, only then did i feel i could ask a question or make a comment.
you have got to do the ground work first, this industry is too competitive to just give away nuggets of info and i really am thankful to everyone for what i have learnt from READING the info on this forum
I don't know about you, but I'm not here for my health, I'm here to try and help with tidbits and maybe a pic or two. I also have gained a little knowledge myself so I'm just trying to pay it forward; BUT I'm not going to take you by the hand, you have to do a little homework. Like in school, you just have to dig for the info(use the search function in the forum).
GMI, my suggestion is to start hitting the auto graveyards in your area. Get a HD box truck and become very knowledgeable regarding you state's hazardous materials laws. You'll be competing with some heavy hitters if you're wanting to get a certain amount of batteries a month. Usually, you'll need to pay top dollar and have a contract with them for, say, 250 auto-sized (or equivalent) batteries a month. Conversely, they're on the hook to provide you with that many batteries each and every month. That's why I'm not a good resource for you. Battery recycling business is cut-throat, even in my rural neck of the woods. The profit "per battery" margin is going to be razor thin for the type of operation you're planning and you'll need to stay on top of your vendors.
Of course, I may just be full of it, too.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
