lol thanks but no thanks been there done that, and left with out. a shirt. I think mick, easy and several others are more experienced in the bis, and there for more qualifyed, but I would be willing to serve and work representing the SIS scrappers.

I'm for it....we'll see where it goes....thanks for your thoughts olddude....I'm a skeptic I guess, but if you don't feel that you are able and easy is too busy, someone else is going to have to step up to the plate to help make this happen. It can't just happen here can it ? I'm just thinking logistics and all that good stuff.
I can work on doing some simple out lines when I have time. I should be able to have something that you all can start to look at in a week or two.
I have some access to law books/law smart people *not lawyers but they should be*
On a side note olddude being qualified just means you put the time an work into doing something.
I am only 21years old (soon to be 22) A drop out from school (5th grade) an was home-schooled. Never went to any collage an never went to any business training school an now I run a full size company that is growing fast.
You just have to put your best foot out an keep going.
Ok we have a few, very few (as is always the case by the way) who have volinteered to work on this project. obviously we cant carry out the entire process on this forum, or can we. I suggest a skype line for simultanius discussion, by several at the same time to form the association. but I would like to keep the association totally associated with this room, and in fact am asking that they become activly involved some how. I am open to suggestions.
at this point we need to divide the tasks between those willing to step up. If we do this right there will be plenty of work in many different areas of expertise to go arround for many people, the more that share these tasks the better, we all still need to tend our own businesses.
but if several of us could spend one hour a day, we could make pretty rapid progress.

and by the way there are some names missing from the above list I sure would like to see added, there are about 20 regular posters here we need all of you, you all have valuable input we need. and let me run this by you all IAIR, international association of independent recyclers Or AIRE, Association of independent recycling engineers. or ?
Dee is right easy is an incarnation of me, lets hope I can help him avoid all the mstakes I made . easy my experience is yours any time you need or want it. if you ever need to know what not to do just ask I've made about every blunder and mistake there is

Still on the fence olddude, I might suggest that you move this conversation somewhere, or at least save everything in a secure location in case it gets deleted for not being part of the Forum's agenda.
One part of successful associations is it's ability to network and make references to other associations.

well Im about the most up front person you will ever meet, and I have invited the forum to participate, I hope they would inform me if they feel I am stepping on their toes or getting out of line, I plan to take the orgisational and formation conversttion to a skype room to avoid taking up space her for people not interested. so as not to use up space. but i would like very much for this forum to be involved.
My brain hurts but I think I get the gist of what you're purposing. An organization to help those of us that are serious about scrapping optimize our profits to keep us from being snuffed out by larger businesses. And making guidelines to keep those who would not participate from grabbing profitable information and then bailing without adding to. Making sure that it's give and take instead of just take. And I would definitely pay to be a part of this as the things that I have learned from all of you has helped to make me money. It would only seem fair. Keeping it completely exclusive to paying members might make it hard take on new people though. My reason for joining this forum was because of the information I seen on here by being able to browse through. I'd say to keep those who just look and don't join from having an open view of the site you could offer time limited trials to allow people to get a quick look so they can decide whether or not they want to be apart of such an organization but at the same time keeping them from just being able to just download it all and read it later. Example: I could tell after 5 minutes that I wanted to be here but there so much info available that I could not have got it all in that amount of time.
I hope I didn't take any of this the wrong way. I'll bookmark this thread to re-read later and try to come up with more ideas.
Eat. Sleep. Scrap.
If it helps, I'm not 100% sure I understand what your goals are with this idea, but it sounds to me that something like this would be a good fit for the Scrap Room?
I could create a private section there, or separate, for this purpose alone which would be kept separate from the public.
If I'm understanding correctly, you guys would like to see a private section somewhere which you could talk business on a buy/sell level amongst each other?
For example, one topic might be (hypothetically speaking), how much should you pay for catalytic converters, and likewise where can you sell them for maximum profit?
Again, I could be misunderstanding but it sounds like a mutually beneficial idea to me.
There's also a private 'groups' feature here on the forum which has been disabled for most members aside from moderators. However, you could probably utilize this 'groups' feature, and make your group 'invite only'. If that will help we can consider how to allow members to become upgraded for access to the private groups feature.

we want to work with in scrp forums do not want to intrude,
what the idea is is to form an association, to promote small scrap business and combine our efforts to be able to show the same capacity combined, in order to compete in our own communities with the 1 800 scrap and donate car people. we want to educate in all areas and work as a net work. we will have ethics rules, ect. to assure the potential customers, we are not a bunch of drunks or tweekers, we wand to promote our industry as reliable independents, just as any other profesion. lawyer DR. manufacturing or what ever. so when a small scrapper in presentable attire and condition armed with proper knowlege and knowhow, is not presenting him/herself. as emergency will continue in a few ok sry about the interuption. Basically we want to be able to combat the national tv budgets, and operate under the current regulations if we ont all learn to do that and take the small scrapping from the tweekers and thieves, we will most likely be regulated out of business, I have seen it happen before.
thanks very much for your intrest/ MCW

we basicaly want to combine our efforts and education to be able to compete with the big boys and eliminate as many of the tweekers as we can
thanks for your intrest. MCW
Ok I sat down an went to work on this some what.
An I think we need a clear cut of what this will an will not do. Rereading this thread shows that there is a mix feelings on what it should do. So lets get that worked on.
As a way to talk this out easy an fast....I would say a IRC chat room. I can set that room up very easy as that is something I have done in the past an I can teach anyone in here who to get into it..its very simple.
looks like the independent scrapper association is gaining ground with the kind work of some members here and aided by the forum, and offers of donated tme and perifials from other members.
let me start by stating a very good reasion I am interested in this association. it is an old axium I have heard and wittnessed over the years.
I once had a small business among others
one day they came and closed Sam down
But sam was just a Jew, so I didn't speak up
then one day, they came and closed Bob down
but Bob was just a black man, so I didnt speak up
then one day the came and closed old Pete down
but Pete was just old and feeble, so I didnt stand
then one day they came to close me down
and there was no one left to stand with me.

the forum has kindly offered a group site, Easy is working hard on logistics and goals, ddherik, has offered a web site. you will get very tired of hearing me say this but if we dont stand together, it wont be long before none but biggist will be standing at all.
I see several functions of the association, from education and safety to, raising our standing in the community.
I dont want to put the 1 800 guys or the big yards out of business, I admire their euntrapranerial gamesmenship. I just want us all to be able to compeat on a level playing field.
we need to come up with a name, three have been offered, 1. AIR- Association of independent recyclers. 2. AIRE - Association of Independent recycling engineers. forgot the third one but it was my suggestion any way so it dosent matter. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
We need to come up with standards/code of ethics/regulations or what ever we want to call them. (personally the word Regulation sends shivers up and down my spine) but thats just me, I will go with what ever the group decides. what we want is regulation that are fair to the biggist and the smallest, suggestions can be posted here or sent to Dumpster Dee. We are currently forming a temporary exploritory commite, so volinteers, with knowledge in any area of our industry, are needed and welcomed, those of us who are putting this together are temporary members. my suggestion is to hold elections once we have it all together and have a panel consisting of one member of each aspect of our industry, including one from the forum to guide us in marketing and promotion.
AARE....American Association of Recycling Engineers.....a play on AARP !!! or.....NARE...National Assoc of Recycling Eng.'s
good suggestions keep track of them we will vote on them some time in the next couple of days. tried to pm you with new group site and pass word, but you m box is full. you need to come up with oath/regulations the sis scrapper like us can live with. so far it is you, easy dhrik and me who will probably do all the work.
UNLESS SOME OF YOU OTHERS OUT THERE WILL STEP UP AND HELP.
What do you need help with? I'm pretty good with Google, and reading. So i guess I'm trying to say I like to research things till I'm blue in the face. Shoot me a PM with whatever you need.
