The whole "American" and "National" thing got me thinking: are we going to limit this just to the U.S or go international? I'm not for or against either idea, I just thought I should throw this out there for consideration.

Also, I'd be glad to help out in any way that I can. I don't know how to do any of the "technical stuff" like creating a website, but I can do general labor like researching and stuff. Let me know.

engineer is a generic term. you can go to colege and become a civil engineer or you can go to the city anf when they hand you a shovel, you are an engineer.
but no matter just was a thought.

Whoa whoa whoa, no need to start an argument here. It sounds like MDG had a good idea. When I think of an engineer, I think of someone who designs bridges and stuff like that, not a scrapper, and I'm sure most normal people do too. I'm not a huge fan of including "engineer" in the name.

Olddude, I don't think he was trying to argue, but just state his point of view.

MDG, there's no need to take that much offense to what Olddude said. I don't think the sarcasm was necessary either.

I stated clearly it was just one idea out of a 100 mr you seemed to be over sensitive about it, sory if I miss read the intent of your post. I apologise.

I am trying to come up with something that will elisit some vision of us as something other then the Fred Sanford memory, ,, not that there is any thing with that as we all know. buy in some places in the community we are all looked at as tweekers and drunks. I am just tring to figgure a way to change that.

Here is an example. I called the person incharge of maintenence at the county school board. to attempt tp get a shot at the CS scrap. I introduced my self, over the phone in an attempt to get an appointment, Imediatly. by the tone of her voice, I could visualise her nose wrinkling up in the unplesent task of having to talk to a lowly individual "garbage man" she quite curtly, informed me she only deals with a "large" company out of Orlando. (600 miles away) (she has never seen the company or photos of it) all that money goes out of the city and county to Orlando. of coursre that is irlivent sence she make $120 K a year and lives over on the beach. for that reasion she knows better them a lowly "I dont have time to deal with individual Garbage men" (her words) words roll off my back. but my loss of revenue for myself and the county dont. that is the general Idea of an association. we can be bigger then a company from Orlando, or the donate car guys or the cash for guys. That is my vision.

Maybe try "united" to avoid the national/international distinction. "professionals" or "associates" or "entrepreneurs" ??? United Recycling Professionals Association

good idea Scrap J.....I jumped on the "engineer" title because I was a card carrying member of the International Union of Operating Engineers back in the day. I was a heavy equipment operator. The mechanics and oilmen and flaggers and almost everyone on site except the teamsters, were "engineers". I was a little shocked at your response mr dew, but I just chalked it up to you being over sensitive for one reason or another like we all are sometimes. Thank God you didn't take your toys and go home like Recycle. That would really be a shame. What would we do without mr dew ??!!!

Injunjoe...I like the sound, but somehow enthusiasts makes it sound like a hobby to me. If we keep throwing 'em out one will resonate with the majority though...if the majority likes one I hate, I'll get used to it. lol

Engineer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roles and expertise|Ethics|Education|RegulationAn engineer is a professional practitioner of engineering, concerned with applying scientific knowledge, mathematics and ingenuity to develop solutions for technical and practical...
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineer

Kinda sounds like a scrapper to me. in my opinion if you hired a "degreed" engineer to work for you. it would take him a pouch of pipe tobaco, a drafting board /with tools, a slide rule computer 3 helpers, and 3 days to tear down that old dryer. then of course submit plans hand written in triplicat to all parties concerned.

if a made can be a domestic engineer and the garbage man can be a sanitation engineer, dont see why we cant be recycling engineers. just askin.
