Messed up my back and ankle pretty bad. After I couldn't get back into trucking I started scrappin full time and been going non stop ever since. And loving every minute of it!

Hi I am somewhat new to the forum...I liked this post tho...
I pick up scrap whenever I decide to get off my lazy ass and go ride around
2ndly I fix all of my appliances that i pick up and resell on craigslist
3rd I fix and resell all of my computer equipment that I pick up
4th If its not broken and I have no use, a pawn shop will gladly accept it
5th I buy appliances on the side so that I can sit at home and fix them and resell them also on craigslist
6th Help out with a few apartment complexes for their trash (AC's appliances, etc...
7th Smoke a lot of weed or spice and drink a lot and be lazy and wait for craigslist sales
Thats about it

Fittun, turnun, weldun, cuttun, boltun....
Oh, and Scrapmetal.
I do part-time service work for my W2.
I did four years in the USMC straight out of high school (Camp LeJeune, NC), and moved back to Cali about 5 years ago when I got out. I got into scrapping about 3 1/2 years ago when I bought my first car trailer. I started out buying cars, working on them and reselling for profit when I moved back but as soon as I got a car trailer my main focus went to junk cars. I went to the local community colleges automotive program so I know a little about fixing junkers to make them roadworthy again. Most anything I can't do, I have friends that can help. I also part cars out and love it when I show up expecting to haul a junker off and the car actually only has a couple things wrong that I can fix and pass on to somebody needing cheap transpo. I also handle general scrap metal and actually just tore apart my first microwave today after reading posts on here and watching youtube videos. Scrapping is a decent job for me in an area where there isn't much work or industry. I provide for my wife and two young kids but definitely am looking at trade programs like welding or building inspection so I can get in with a company with benefits and retirement someday. I make enough to take care of my family which is good, but don't have any benefits except the states MediCal program (no dental), and can't afford to buy a house. Scrapping is not really something I want to do for the rest of my life because it looks like I would have to do it the rest of my life-no retirement.

I'm currently on unemployment, worked at a Honda dealer for 2 1/2 years until june of 2010. Went back to school to get my GED and i'm now enrolled in the Ajuto Technician program....while I receive extended unemployment benefits for being "in training," it's still not enough to cover my bills. I'm 23 and live with my g/f and we don't receive ANYgovernment assistance (housing/welfae/etc) so this brings in alotta extra money to pay the bills, keep a roof over us, and pay my Snap-On bill...lol. Not to mention I love tearing stuff apart, it's easy to come by, and makes me feel better knowing i'm doing a little bit to save the enviornment. I'm not a hippy by any means, it's just the concept.
work..... highway and bridge construction
scrap..... for fun and extra money for more scraping accessories!
play music.... when i'm not scrapping to keep my fingers happy!
full time scrap wholesaler and reseller
I am an engineer for a semiconductor wafer fab. I sit at a computer and study charts and graphs all day. Scrapping is a nice diversion. It sure feels good to throw some metal around after sitting around all week racking my brain. I also like scrapping because its something I can do with my kids. My 4 year old boy loves to go to the yard and tear stuff apart. I am using what money I earn to buy more scrapping equipment and pay off some debt I have racked up trying to raise 4 kids.
This forum is awesome. I have learned a ton from all of you. I make a lot more money at my full time job, but enjoy scrapping much more. My co-workers sometimes make fun of me for scrapping but I could care less. It is a lot of fun for me.
I am a full time Recycling Center worker (NH DES Level 4). I also repair and troubleshoot PCs. I am scrapping Ewaste to help my addiction to collecting coins.
Nothing now full time auto scrapper.Well not full time about 20 hours or less a week
When the economy went south, my husband's masonry work came to a standstill, and we almost lost our house (duplex that we live in and rent out -had an auction date set and everything), we started to take apart a bunch of computers, tvs and monitors for the copper. We slowly worked our way out of things, my husband's work picked up a bit, and by then I'd caught the scrap bug. Formally started my business, Lady Scrappers, in August of this year. I do it part-time as I have an autoimmune disease that affects my joints, am in school(almost have my bachelors, then onto a master's program to teach post-secondary English), and am a stay-at-home mother of two boys, ages 7 and 4. LOVE scrapping and don't ever foresee stopping!!
