I am about to scrap a set of aluminum cattle trailers and trying to get an approximate tonnage of aluminum and iron.

photos and dimensions might help us to give you an educated guess
OR
Here's my WILD A** GUESS:
100lbs of Aluminum
500 lbs of Steel
69 tons Bob.
What's the condition of the trailers? They would be worth far more as working cattle trailers. If they are repairable get the titles. If not scrape one and see how it goes.
Read more, ask less, best of luck, Mike.
Maybe look for a tag that has a model number, then contact Merritt? Or tag might even have weight/specs.

I would think they'd be worth far more as trailers, but do what you need to do.
my town has a farm auction every 6 mos. The auction yard is next door to one of the dumpsters on my run so I look over and see what's new every day. Can't imagine why you would trash that unless they were in a wreck. A head on collision of two cattle carriers !!! lol
too funny KZ
You will not get an answer by anyone until you tell us who you are. "Introduce yourself". Just manners.
You know what that stands for??? NO, not what you think.PETA
People Eating Tasty Animals LOL
Thats what the cattle trailer is for right? Hauling them to the butchers? I like tasty animals too....
I would guess about 50-50 if the floor is aluminum and frame is steel. I have seen flatbed trailers with aluminum frames so these might to and then they would be 80-20.
Im averaging just under $1200 per trailer on aluminum sided vans. Most were 40 footers. Average time 45 hours. I am working up a spreadsheet breaking down aluminum and steel content, Its not aneasy venture to separate everything out. I am working on my 5th trailer in past 6 weeks and it is getting a little easier, but I have a plasma cutter and my wife runs the crane ;-). Without those you add another 20 hrs.
