i have scrapped quite a few ...what u got dude?
just looking for info, to bid on some. little ones and biggons. how much copper etc. trying to figgure out how much to bid.
welding leads w/ be your major source of copper..besides if u breakdown elec motor...last one i did...med size...220#electric motor...40#s copper in leads...leads were in bad shape...leads that are in good shape sell for alot more than scrap...hope this helps
ok thanks, most of the ones in auctions have already had the leads abscounded with. heavy as the body is I thought maybe they were full of copper windings. thanks again.
most of the weight is made up of e motor
I've scrapped 4 so far. 2 biggens and 2 little guys. The 2 biggens were old as...well, you probably are olddude (har har har). Cracked em open, 1 of them was ALL aluminum windings, the other was all copper windings. Their was absolutely no difference in the 2. I believe i pulled 38#'s of copper out of the big one, and maybe 20-25#'s out of the small guy.
Good luck buddy.
Did one when I first started....motor windings were big, fat ALUMINUM ones. I worked for hours "unwinding"....(yes, tater, the hard way). Today I scratch test. AL goes in the motor bucket. Good luck olddude.
I cant get over that. "yes, tater, the hard way". I'm seriously laughing hard over here, holy cow.
Hoss, while you were out of commission, somebody posted a picture of a motor and asked, "how do I open this to get the copper out?" (it was already open) I posted that there were other posts on that and made fun of myself for how I did it my first few times. Since then, Idaho Scrapper keeps pretending he's a newby and asks me how to unwind copper. MDG often calls him tater, so I started using it, too. I forget you're from there, sometimes. So glad you're feeling better, and glad you got a good laugh anyway !!
I still can't figure out how to get that copper out.
Get tater salad to show you !!! lol
Oh lord here we go LOL
