I am taking a guess, that this might be the right place. If not, I do apologize!
I noticed in a thread some where, that people were talking about taking
scrap metal from individual's homes, and how some had a serious issue with it, and some called it illegal, etc.
Granted, it is never cool or polite to drive down the road, see a washer, dryer, miscellaneous scrap laying in someone's yard and just assume they are throwing it out, or that it is not meant for someone other than you.
Anyway, the easiest way I have found to deal with nosey neigbors who may call the cops, is use what I call an authorization form. It gives me authorization/permission to go and pick up the scrap metal from homes, or even businesses.
I have had the police called on me 2 times, and once I showed them the authorization form, and they called to verify with the client, everything was cool. Without that paper, I probably would have been arrested.
The reason people do things like that, because here where I am from, there are scrappers who do go to homes and business and will take metal of any kind without permission.
I have seen the police at my scrap yard a few times looking for individuals who have stolen scrap metal and the police were called on them.
The blank authorization form that you can download for FREE below off of my website, is the same one I use with my clients. I require this to be filled out if they will not be at home, or at the job site. Most times, I still have them fill it out anyways, just in case things change and they have to leave.
This blank one is like the one I use, minus mine includes my business letterhead on it.
