    Shutdown.

I hate to say this but at this time I am shutting down my whole shipping/buying scrap part. Its not worth shipping the E-waste when gold is as low as it is.

I will say this....stock it up...gold will come back stronger...or..I hope.

If you have a large amount...we may still be able to work something out but understand prices have dropped.

Gold was at 1900+ now its sitting at 1629....how much will it drop? you tell me.

I will keep you all posted for when I reopen our online buying.

I agree. We have had to bite the bullet and adjust pricing accordingly to go with the market. Gold dropping sucks, but business must go on. People were still scrapping electronics when gold was 500.00 an ounce.

Ok maybe ya'll not understanding by what I mean.

I am not shutting everthing down. I am just not going to buy online. Reason being from the time you ship it and the time it gets here the gold could of dropped even more. So I will not be buying until one of two things happen. Gold stops dropping and goes stable or two gold starts going back up. This way I know that I will not lose any money.

Its no fun when someone sends you a pallet of motherboards an you told them you can pay them lets say $4.00 and gold drops an you can only sell it for $3.50. Thats the reason why we will not buy ONLINE until gold is stable or is going back up in price.

Hope you all understand that. That is why I said if you have a large load..we can still work something out but you will have to understand that the price can change based on what gold is doing when we get it either for the better...or worse.

I think you are making a smart move at this time.
Wise suggestion and kind of you to say "Stock it up". Other E scrappers seem to hold there tongue in these though times.

Well...it is what it is. I am hoping that gold will come back up..and or become stable again. Once its stable then I can put a good price list back up and start from there. With gold change every day as widly as it has....I just need to slow things down and see where it will land.

Gold only passed the 1600 mark less than 3 months ago. There has been nothing stable about gold pricing during the past 3 months.

These parabloic up moves and crack-ups are very common in precious metals markets. Look at the long term 10 year trend chart. Follow the 50 and 200 day moving average patterns. If you are running that close margin wise where a 10-15% move is forcing you to the side......unless you are well-healed.....your going to break yourself right off. Re-adjust your business plan. Just friendly advise so don't take it the wrong way.

I can see how someone buying and holding it until they get enough to sell or process can take a hit from this. It's no different then stocks or even the gas station buying fuel for more then they end up selling it for (if the price on gas would ever drop). Risky business. Sitting it out is the only option, other then taking the hit on your current inventory. I guess it all depends on what you need for expenses.

Guys like me just strip the machines out and get what we can from buyers like you. We take the hit when our buyers lower their prices... but we keep working though it... just because we have to. Good luck Easy. We are all feeling this right along with you. Hope you can get back up to speed soon.

Bulk is that name of the game... sorry to say. I would be surprised if you get $10 for all of this. There is a lot on this subject on this forum and the internet in general. Lots of money to be made in stuff normally considered to be trash. Good luck.

Junkernaut I can help you in the e-waste an so you can make top dollar but I am sorry to tell you that the items you have are not worth $20. Close but not sure due to the fact of gold drop.

Gold is starting to come back up. Lets just hope that it will keep on doing so.

I am slowing down my buying as I said in a post all ready. But I do not want to sell the items I have and take the huge profit lose. But I will sell if gold is not coming back up. So I am taking it easy and watching the market and working on a new price list. As I have said I am still buying but only from the DFW. I will reopen my out of state buying once I have a new list that will stay the same. I HATE to ship things back to the seller.

Easy why dont you just buy off a sliding scale?

Example. Customer ships you 1000 pounds of ewaste. You agree to buy @ 3.50 per pound at current market value, but reserve the right to be lower or higher if the price of precious metals changes. You send a document to the customer showing that for every $25 gold drops or increases then the purchase price will be +/- 0.10.

The product reaches you after 7 days. Gold increased by $50 so the customer gets a nice bonus of his items being worth 0.20 per pound more. Or if it dropped by $50 then the client would already know they would be receiving 0.20 less per pound and it wouldn't be such a shock.

Just the way I deal I like to get a price locked in the day I ship it. I dont want the guess work of wondering what the market will do. Same reason I dont like places that want you to ship them the stuff before they will give you a price. If it goes up by the time it gets there then its more profit for them. if it goes down by the timeit gets there then its less. But as victor said your buisness plan shouldnt be based on a 10 percent swing. Example the 140 pounds of boards I just baught I paid the same as I did 3 weeks ago $2.50 per pound. After shipping it comes to about $3.50 a pound. AT current prices I will only make 50 to 60 cents a pound instead of the $1 a pound I made last time but I kept my seller happy. Im just small time and dont do this as primary income so to each their own. But i would hate to find a price expecting to get x ammount of dollars then it drops to where I break even or make hardly no money. That would stink as a small time scrapper.

E we all are aware of the volitility of the PM market. with all the computer power out there there has to be a way to amortise the products with the curent market prices of PMs.

dont know what your financial status is but at $3.50 I would be buying ever yboard I could. PM are on their way back up. the "crash" was nothing but profit taking by the big boys, happens all the time. AU will still hit $2000 by the end of the year.

If Grease goes into default. every one in Italy, Spain, Portugal. Ireland and most of western europ with a dime to spare will be buying gold. because they will be next. and they know it. It is my uneducated opinion there is only 3 choices for the world economys. 1. just say sry. 2. chapter 13 which is really where we are now. 3. chapter 7. just my .02.
