    gold market

I have been keeping a strong eye on gold and other metals that we recover from computers.

The good news is gold seems to gone stable once again. Its not doing any real huge drop from open to close and is closing higher than when it opened.

All in all...I wont be shocked AL and CU start doing the same. It just looks like the market is turning for the better.

Easy, I have been wondering about this. Seems to me gold is being held at an artificially high price because of all the world market uncertainty. People are hedging with gold and driving up the price (it’s more than platinum, which I can’t remember ever seeing before). I was around when gold hit $800 an ounce back in the 80s and it was sort of the same thing.

If gold were to drop to half its present value is there still a market for escrap or is most of the market based on recovering the gold?

I've looked at gold when it shot up in the past. It jumped from 35 an oz to 865, an increase of more than 24x. When it dropped off a cliff it steadied at around 400 an oz. Still more than 11x what it started at before it began its ascent. It then remained the same for decades. I expect some similar figures this time round. When it does drop, so what??? silver, platinum and palladium will go up instead, probably through this decade.

The market like any other item will crash...anyone who cant keep up with the ever changing prices will fail..but e-waste as an item will be here to stay. Gold is a very hot item and when you have people drop out even when gold drops you will have refinery that need it and will still pay something for it.

So if the market crashes like it did for the last few weeks...the price will change but the amount of gold in a computer is small...its NOT just the gold we are after but many other metals as well. So when one market crashes another could pickup that will hold the worth of ewaste.

Us ewaste buyers just keep an eye on gold market more than the others because we will see a change in the gold market before the other metal markets...its like a heath meter...is it right all the time? no...but helps us sleep at night.

P.s sorry my typing is not the best..not really proof reading this..I had a day from hell...had to be in 20places at once..I need some grub and sleep...just popping my head in here.

I can't figure out why Platinum & palladium havn't risen in league with Gold.
If 1/2 the value of gold is speculative (a investment that holds its value +) then why isn't Platinum & palladium being used the same way?

I have seen a photo where a guy was installing a platinum mesh in a petrol refinery, it was about 3 metres (10 foot) in dia.
Theres two guys in the background holding AK47's....

The mesh was worth over one Million $, back in 1990...

Years ago I was told that for every $ gold goes up, it means a million $ to the Gold miners, thats when it was US$700.

Reason why gold for the most part is prized as the top metal is for a few simple reasons (if you ask me)

Its "pretty" and everyone knows what it looks like and what it costs when you try to buy a brand new ring...but is a investment of gold.

Gold can be used in so many ways from gold wiring for power/computer use to where high heat maybe...as gold melts at very high temps so is great for that....gold is very thick even when plated as signal cant pass thought it

Gold is a very strong (wont brake easy) but at the same time is very soft based on other metals.

And one of the big reasons....gold been around since the day of men.....men (an there wife's) have all ways loved gold from years ago...that love has never changed.

You can send your e-waste at any time. I don't have any holds (they will be posted on the website an here) for if gold is being crazy. What I call crazy when its at mid 1800 and drops to low 1600 in a few days. Right now its just changing alot but still stable.

You can find an up-to-date price list on the website.

p.s we do not open boxes on weekend so if it gets here on late Friday we wont get to it until Monday.
