Like honestly I would be hesitant to go to a yard that DOES NOT require id. To me THAT is a sign of a possible shady dealer and I do not want to be around when there is a sudden raid as a result of six months of investigations into an owner dealing in stolen property. those investigations tend to trickle down to everyone who sells at that yard and even honest folk can be burdened with questioning and asset seizure.

Scrap yard operate virtually the same as pawn shops with their daily reports to the local PD/Sheriff's office. But I WILL NOT sell to a dealer or in a country where only checks are mailed out. total bs. There are many people who are only temp scrapping because they may be down on their luck, or maybe they just ran short before payday and need some extra dollars to put a god**** meal on the table. Did the fat cats in the Lee county council even consider this or were they too fat and happy to worry about the poor citizens?? plus did many people forget homeless people collect cans just to get food in their bellies or some clean socks. Did anyone think about those unfortunate folks? WTF are they hiding huh? If noone is hiding anything, then just let me into your home and rummage around. Got nothing to hide right?

I mean I can understand regulating items subject to higher volumes of theft. I know here in Tampa, FL you now have to provide proof of ownership when selling any A/C coils as well as a certain high quantity of auto batteries, and a few other things, after which of course they send a check in the mail. In fact I had a fairly ****ty experience with my regular dealer not but six months ago. My pops got himself a brand new AC for his home. he needed it because of the additions he made so he could earn rental money. The A/C guy was trying to get away with it but my pop asked him to leave it so i could come get it. Well After processing that, I went to the yard. I dont regularly come across A/C as I am no thief and do not work in the HVAC field, so to someone like me an A/C like that comes few and far between. I asked what would suffice as proof of ownership as I explained it was from my pops replacing his. They were satisfied with a receipt for the installation of the new one. So I left, got a copy of the receipt from my pop and returned the next day. Almost two weeks went by and no check.

I finally went back and asked what the hell happened. Turns out the check was returned to them from the post office because instead of using the address that is on the license I give them every single time, they used the address they kept on file, which was from the very first apartment I lived in when I first started scrapping.

Im like dude wtf?? my god**** address is on the license you scan with your computer every single time I am here. Well they started to notice this discrepancy was affecting other customers now so they are being more thorough as a result. Thankfully they had my check in the office and everything worked out. But still, just goes to show the kind of hiccups that can happen when having to mail a stupid check. And that was only for A/C coils, imagine when every single load has to be mailed out?? Complete BS if you ask me.

To quote J.G. Wentworth (commercials) "Its MY MONEY, AND I WANT IT NOW!!!!"
