People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
wow I thought they would already be doing that. California does it
Interesting, I thought that requiring identification to purchase scrap from a seller was an industry standard.
That means up until now, someone could walk in with hundreds or thousands of dollars in scrap, and get paid for it on the spot without even pulling out an ID?

God bless little children while they're still too young to hate
I am for the ID thing as much as it grinds me to have to have it. that said use some common sence, no law will ever keep a thief honest, or a druggie who needs cash for a fix.
Weather honest or dsihonest."desperate people do desperate things"
Doesn't seem to slow them down here in Indiana.maybe it will keep the crack heads honest ??!!

I just figured everywhere had to see ID
here i Arizona we need to have a copy of the sellers drivers license and there vec. license plate number for anyone that is selling more then $25.00 worth of scrap.and if it is over $300.00 in non-ferrous they have to have a check mailed to them. we have to keep this info for five years
No I.D. required here unless the sale is over $100.
No ID needed in AZ for steel and alum cans, ID for all other metal.
I.D. and legal (plated) vehicle in Fl, for all but aluminum cans.
they licence plate u in calii for all the metals besides cans.
when u take in alumn, copper they copy your id, take your finger print, and take a picture of u with your items you brought in.
They have been doing that here at the pawn shops for years.when u take in alumn, copper they copy your id, take your finger print, and take a picture of u with your items you brought in.
Here is a link for a recycling clearinghouse, it lists states, and what their laws are. Might be interesting for some,,,http://www.ecyclingresource.org/Cont...aspx?Pageid=28

Here in NJ we need to show ID I don't mind that but now some politician wants all cash transactions band at scrap yards!! WHAT? God forbid the little guy makes a easy profit.
Glad I live in PA. We will never drop the cash requirement. They talked about it and the backlash was so bad they quickly dropped it.
