possible lead need advice

Got a call from a guy. He wants me to buy motors from him. I'm offering 20-25c..maybe as high as 30c per lb depending on volume...does this sound good to you guys? My idea is Im going to cut apart them to make a profit. Hes got everything from 1/2 horse to 7.5 horse motors.

Also question from the experts. He has motor starters. Sounds like it is a breaker box with a fuse and all that in one unit. How should I price them?

.25 is generous considering the amount of work and time involved..

My yard pays about $.30 a pound for motors. If you looking at just the bigger ones I would say the $.25 per pound range would be ok. As far as the starters. Could always offer shred price for something untill you get a breakdown of it and see whats its worth. Or maybe 2x shred.

Ok good to know...Im about in page. Work to me is work. Especially when its blowing ass cold outside. After spending 8-9 hours today in the freezing cold digging out steel out of the ground for a 150 clear after labor and expense payout....it is a blessing to be in front of the heater. Besides depending on motor size,,,,I usually do 5-10 a hour.

I find if you are good at it you can move thru a lot of motors quickly. Its been my main scraping thing. My next door neigbor sells to me and I break them down. The only thing is I can do only 4-6 of the same motor before getting bored with it. So I go to another type motor and do a few of them.

The motor starters might just be a capacitor. I suggest you get a couple and break them down and determine their value. If the guy is unwilling to give you the chance to figure it out I would pass on the "starters". He may know more than he is letting on. Mike.
