How to find Scrap Metal/E-waste location's

I have been thinking about something for sometime now. As a sit at work thinking about Scrap and where I can find it, I was thinking "Man it would be nice to just have someone locate scrap for me" then it dawned on me. Some Scrappers are good salesman, some are more hands on and just take what they can find on there own without much interaction with people. What about a Scrap locator service?

The vending machine business is what made me think about it. There are alot of people in the vending business that just locate locations for people. The vendors pay a fee for the location. Usually its a one time fee for that location, nothing residual. The locator would call or visit locations in a specific area, give there pitch, get an answer and when they secure one, pass it along to the person that hired them to locate(a little more to it but you get my point).

Do you guys/gals think that would work in the scrap business? Let me say that this is NOT something I'm going to do myself. I would use the service, but I'm not trynig to start this, or drum up business.

If I live in Indiana what do I care if I secure a location for another recycler 150 miles from me for if it's small. I'm not going to drive there. But someone close could get it, and I still get paid for locating it.

I don't know just a thought. There's a lot more someone would have to work out to do this. Maybe its not a good idea, but just wanted to get everyone's thoughts and maybe put a bug in someones ear, thats good at dealing with people.

You could end up with a situation where you get locator who finds metal, takes a few photos and auctions the location off to the highest bidder. All this would do is drive up the costs of aquiring metal to the point where it would be more profitable being a middleman (or woman) with a camera phone and an internet connection.

Scrap yards pays us for leads for their roll off's so why not local scrappers.
We were going to hire a full time sales person to do cold calls.
3 heads are better than one.
So for us, we would us this service.

there are DIRTY scrappers in my city I tried to work with a bit they give cash if you give them an appliance they seem to be doing good so I talked to them about giving me the cash if they did the calls for pickups that I cant handle.
so this is how SH#% when bad the first fridge went perfect I gave them an address for a fridge pick up they gave me 10 bucks and i did nothing. the very next address I sent them too they said "the scrap was not there some one else must have taken it".
ok time to set up a sting. I put a fridge on the lawn of my buddies house Dan and made the call while I watched from the window drinking beer. they came did the pick up. i saw them.
they called "hey i cant find this fridge are you sure you got the right address?" i nearly killed him over the phone. I have never been so mad.....I don't want to talk about it. I don't lose my cool very often but then I did.

and here is his local classified advertisement feel free to set up a pick time in your state

Not so sure I would want a scrapper bringing me a food item that wasn't sealed. That could just be me though.
