Man what a day.

So about two weeks ago I saw an ad on craigslist that said something like, we are paying the most for insulated wire, and since we had about 4000lbs in the shop I thought I would contact them and see what a good price was.



After talking to the individual we set up a date for him to come over and look at the wire. The prices he shot me were just to low for me and I turned around and shot him some prices. He liked the prices and asked me to come over to his shop and see what he had. Well here are some pics from his shop.

The thing of boards weight 400lbs, the boxes in the second pic are full of wire, boards etc. The third pic is the second load we hauled out of there today.

Yeah we are estimating somewhere in the range of 30k-40k. There are just gaylord boxes of transformers and truckloads of switches, and telecom equipment. In the middle picture, the furthest box on the right has just old switch equipment that have some beautiful boards.

This pic is just boxes of never used transformers and small electric motors.

So far we are in this 6k. Should be a total of about 15k-20k paid out once it is all said and done. We look at 40-50% profit on loads like this, where we go over and clean out their shop. It works out the best for us all, as we clean up their shop as well as pay them for the contents.

Just got through 8 pallets of material and already have a full gaylord of transformers. Weight....4000lbs

We sell as is as we currently receive .45-.50/lb. We buy a lot of these and usually bring in 20,000lbs at a time. I don't think there is much left on the bone after that to make it worth us tearing them down, though we have never tried.

I know it is hard to tell the scale in this picture, but that one in the middle weighed close to 175lbs. We actually set it on the scale and put it on the forklift fork to plop it in the box. That sucker is about 80bucks. Hard to believe. Do you know what the initial weight of the transformers you are tearing apart. I am trying to get a feeling of what the percent of copper is in these things is.
