Is it worthwhile to strip the webbing off lawn chairs?

I just got a few lawn chairs in and haven't really fooled with them much in the past. I'm back in Michigan now and seem to have acquired a pile in my absence. Is it worthwhile to strip them or should I take them in as is?

i think a lot of them just got screws holding it on, should be fairly quick and easy to back them out. If it by chance is an al rivet, probly just as quick and easy to drill them

I would use my 4 1/2" angle grinder to clean them up. But I really do love my angle grinder. Mike.

I only get 33% more for clean. To me its not worth it. Then again it depends on how much time you have. I have high volume and little time.

i wouldnt strip it either. My yard would buy it as old aluminum (allowing small amonts of steel to be left on) at .54 versus clip at around .60
for mr time is important as well

I digress. 50c vs 60c about 18% diff. I was thinking cast alum at 40c. Steel rivets, webbing add weight. Why do you think they pay you less? They aren't going to pay for the "dirt". Of course this is my opinion. But the same holds true in most cases. For me I loose money by monkeying around for a few bucks instead of going out and filling my truck with more goodies or looking for more scrap contacts/sources.

I was going to say that there's nothing clean about it as there is a steel rod for a hinge.

I clean everything I can, al. chairs are easy, most have screws or metal clips holding the webbing on. Zip the screws out with an electric screw driver or even an electric drill with a screw driver bit will work. Cut steel rod hing thing in half with a cut off blade and bull it out. Russell if you hve to go looking for scrap your probably loosing money with the gas prices the way they are. But thats just me, to each his own.

If they're aluminium, chances are they'll bend and snap at the rivot without tools, so less wear and tear on your drill bits

Wow! I'd def save the alum for lean times and clean away when the time was appropriate. I can't believe alum is so low there.
