Prices unchanged for me on shred, SS up at Western Scrap in the Colorado Springs, Cu up a few cents as well.

According to Metal Bulletin scrap went up 5-10$ in the past few weeks. My gut feeling is its going to be stable for the month atleast. I couldnt imagine the market crashing to the point of serious losses in the immidiate future.

Holding steady here at $220 net ton for sheet iron

Luckily the drop was 3/4 c not 1 1/2 c. 230$ to $215 ton. It makes a big difference when you're hauling several loads a week. I don't know about you all but gas is around 5$ a gallon in these parts.

This past Saturday, April 7th I got $265 ton for appliances.

As far as why stainless is down so much...it took a $0.16 hit in one day and then dropped another few cents the next. A butterfly flapped its wings in Greece or China's demand drastically dropped. Today my yard is paying $0.63 for 304 and $1.02 for 316.

Took in a load of 304 today. Said he was paying 65 cents. I asked if he could do any better. Said no, SS isn't doing that great right now. Went back and forth a bit. He wouldn't budge. Went ahead and unloaded and got the weight.

I get my ticket and see it's 2,823 lbs. I said "that's all that was there...was hoping it weighed more".

Moved the truck and headed in to get paid when the guy writing the ticket meets me outside to adjust the ticket 154 lbs in my favor. Said the bin was off the scale a hair and didn't weigh properly.

I go in to get paid and ask again if it's the best he can do/would he go a nickel more since I bought in nearly 3,000 lbs. Prolly small time in his eyes.

He finally said he can do .67 cents. Unloaded 2,977 lbs of SS and cashed out at $1,994.59

Wishing I'd cashed out when it was .80 or higher. At least now I have the cash and don't have to worry about the stream of scrappers that stop to ask if they can "buy it".
