    time to rethink my plan

has any one looked at the dot gov auctions lately. no hard drives, may or may not work, may have parts missing. florida state at gainsville has 70 dimms un known condition $800 bid so far.

Im I crazy or has the market gone crazy ?

just got the results of my last shipment of MB, cpu, finger cards etc. 88 lbs. which included several dual cpu slots on MB from servers.

I lost $150, net after net cost.

and that is paying $5 per unit.

    something is wrong here.

so Im going to take what little bank roll I have left and buy 2 cars tomarrow and try to flip them.

one is a 94 Buick regal in excellent shape runs great but needs an ignition switch $400

secound one is a 92 ford explorer needs a starter in fair shape $400

so with scrap prices it is a least a no loss situation.

Have a main hiwy frontage lot where I have sold dozens in the past soooo.

    what do ya think.

im saving computer parts still and have never sold any yet, but the cars no way you can lose, especially if you sell them as parts cars or fixer uppers, plus like you said already theres some left on the bone selling as scrap

Always. Do yourself a favor, and just have the titles notarized "Open" (Not in your name) that way iof you flip too many the State doesn't come after you for a dealers license. In Ohio I think it's like 6 cars a year,

As inoculous as it may seen, selling with an open transfer could be construed as laundering money with tax evasion to compund ones troubles.

I'm sure that olddude could put his sons names to better use that sitting on the couch all day playing video games. That would give him an addtional 12 cars nto the 6 he was permitted to leagally sell each year if he lived in Ohio.

That is one problem we in the western civilisation) have, were a selfish lot in that we do not bring our spouse or children into our business.

People these days are dieing whith out leaving a will.

I have heard where people did something like removing the starter from a bad engine, and saying "it needs a starter"

my first check of any gasoline vehicle is the dreaded finger up the ol exhaust pipe ; ) (next is to get underneath and see what it looks like under there )

Where did you bring your boards and stuff too?

If you purchased P4 or higher at $5 per then i could see why you might have had a loss.

Were the machines complete and were they full towers or mini desktops?

I buy PC's at $5 bucks all day long and always turn a profit. Normally on full towers i make back $1-2 bucks back in just the scrap steel. Add everything else and it's about 10-15 per.

Not sure how you lost so much unless you payed a crap ton in shipping.

+1 on open title as well...no sense in paying sales tax and ruining your profit margin.
