    scrap yard mistake

So i went to the scrap yard today with a small load that I wanted to get off my truck 2 washers 1 dryer and some alum and ins wire. Now my yard pay you with a check for anything over 100 and as I am waiting at the clerk window I notice she is printing a check and I know I did not have that much so she hands me the check and recite and closes the window, I look at the paper work and see she paid me for electric motors instead of lite iron so I knock on her window and told her she shorted herself and she huffed like I was annoying her she took the check and recite redid it and handed me my cash and shut her window with out a thank you or have a nice day. I just saved her company $50.00 and not even a thank you, I understand she has to deal with a lot of rude and low class people most days but that just pissed me off.

    Sorry just wanted to vent.

No don't punch her in the face. She's an employee not the owner. She was upset she had to correct something that a. required more work from her andf b. would be evidence she is incompetent.

I had a similar thing happen to me today. I had 3000 lbs of stuff in the bed of my truck. I would say about 90 percent of the weight was motors from cars. Heads and cranks and you get the picture. The rest was shred. THey gave me motor price of $320 a ton. Was a nice payday.

It seems to me you're the one who dealt with a rude and low class person.

My first time turning in shred was conpletely opposite...so I fill my car up with a bunch of stripped computers n headed to the yard..get there, wait in line, u know the drill..anyways get back to weigh in n o crap see a sign...500 lb minimum or its a donation...I still remember to this day, I was just praying to god.. I figured before I left right around 600 for me..again first time..guy comes back... 420 lbs... ohh $h**... lady asks from the window politely if it was my first visit there... said I had brought cans n copper before so she agreed to pay without a second thought..it was only 40 or 50 bucks but man it made a difference in my day...if I woulda caught her on a bad day, I would have been out the cash...anyways pays to be honest though...Karma goes a long way man

fordss you did the right thing that's all that matters. I know someone who took a load into a yard and they overpaid him by $600. He called the next day and they corrected it and sent out a check minus the $600 and no thank yous there either. In retrospect $600 goes over the scale at that yard every 10-15 minutes so not a showstopper. They were probably pissed they had to do extra paperwork and hit print on the computer a second time.

"whatever may be the outcome you went with the truth."

I got given money for 7Kg copper when the actual weight was 1Kg.

The guy starts pulling out $$$ & I'm thinking '****. Copper must have gone wayyyyy up'.

So I check it & he had read the '1' as a '7'
The guy who wrote it out went to some trouble to put the 'base' & the 'top left hook', but it still got misread.
So I told the guy & he fixed it.

A week later, I get home (on a friday) & find I have been shorted by 60Kg of Ali (in a biggish load).
I call them up, leave a message as they have closed for the week. I sort out another $100 copper wire & turn up on Monday.

As soon as they see me they all have a big smile & loud larf & I found they must have noticed the mistake just as I'd walked out the gate.
They had tried to phone me, but I have no phone, but they also knew I'd be there Monday morning.

    Great place, BIG firm.
